Well I had power coated my frame, polished some of the aluminum, got new spokes, new paint job, ceramic coated my exhaust, money into lots of replacement parts. My lovely city here (which I live in city limits) has a city ordnance. All things worked on has to be in an enclosed space. So while rebuilding my 1978 CB550K, it was in my apartment. October 16, 2010 my place burned down by a fire started in a different apartment. I lost my motor of my 1976 CB550 (got soaked), entire bike of 1974 CB550, and my 1978 CB550K, My 4 cats, neighbor and my girlfriend, Vada Ann Knipp.

So sorry to hear. A bike can be replaced, but to lose a girlfriend must be misery [I just read her obituary].
Good luck to you in the New Year.

So sorry to hear about your girlfriend. Nasty way to end the year. Stev-o is correct, bikes can be replaced easily. Hears hoping 2011 is better.

Merry Christmas..

Sweet looking scoot, Phae!  I like the name and avatar too, but you could prolly tell that from the quote in my signature below  ;)
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Whoa, Steve -- utterly cool bike, beautiful job!!  Love the pipes, wish I was there with your asking price in hand!  As you can guess, my 550 project is awaiting warmer weather, but I did finish cleaning and priming the tank, got it mounted and full of fuel, and cranked 'er up.  It'll be gloss black with white Honda wing logos.  Pix as soon as the temp rises enough to paint.  Late March, maybe?

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride. . .

Hey Tango,

How do you like that hooker exhaust?  I just picked up the same unit for my '71 500.

Thanks!

I Just brought home this '71 500 cafe project and I'm also new to this site. I'm a Metal worker by trade so I'm going to try and have some fun with this bike. I was working hard on her the first few days but then I found this forum and now I can't get anything done. Just too much great stuff to check out on here.

see you around!- chris

Heres my first bike, picker her up 2 days ago. I'm the second owner of this bike :)

Kind of a crappy driveway picture but I can't really move her anywhere else because there is 3 feet of snow here.

Great bike, and awesome low milage. Enjoy riding her this spring. The picture works just fine, don't worry about it. We know about how snow messes things up!

Just bought my second 550 in two weeks. Couldn't pass up this CL find. Twice as clean and cheaper than my first I just bought. With an amazing paper trail and little surprises like a complete tool kit and original dealer paperwork and warranty card. Rode it home 70 miles without even an odd noise to be found. $700! that's a steal in my book for northern cali. Meticulously maintained to keep up with the sellers 15000 miles he logged in the past two years with over $3500 in receipts.

WOW  :o :o  That is an incredible deal for such a nice Bay Area CB.  That must have been 70 miles south of san jose, right?  Lucky bastard!!
