somemonkey,

glad to see you're here.  i've enjoyed following along on your site for a bit now.

Thanks! I just got around to working on it again since it's getting colder out. I should be updating the site next week after I receive a bunch of parts to make upgrades.

First time I've visited your site Somemonkey. It's great - do you mind if I post links to it in the FAQs? Lots of people post "how to" but yours has pictures and anotations which makes a far more useful resource.

You're more than welcome to post links to my site. The more people I can help, the better! I get so much help from people on this site that I feel like I would be 'paying it forward' if you posted my links.

Seems like each model is starting to gain equal footing on here..wonder what it would take to convince either glen or bob to sticky both the 350 owners list and this one? And perhaps someone could get one started for the 750s so we are all represented..

Hey, if my site can help you that would be great. Also, for you 350 owners out there I'm going to start working on a 1968 cb350 that a friend of mine purchased not long ago. Hopefully my experiences will be of value to someone.

cheers.

Wasn't sure about putting my "Project Bikes" in here because of their condition. :-\ There are some pretty decent bikes here, of all different styles and Great looking bikes they are too! ;) But, I guess, I need to throw mine in here for the numbers, if nothing else. ::) Hoping that Someday, I'll be able to put some life back into them and a decent look to them. That being said, I've got 3 (a 73' CB500K, a 77' Cb550K and a 78' CB550k)

The 73' CB500K (Needing quite a bit of Work!)

The 77' CB550K (as it is right now, in pieces)

And the 78' CB550K (needing LOTS of work!)

      Plus, I've got 2 CB500K motors

Remember, I DID say that they were "Project Bikes" (to me, means ROUGH!)

Here's my 77 550K. It needs some exhaust work and a carb rebuild, but overall is in pretty decent shape. I've also replaced the stock mirror with a Napolean bar end.

bill- love the sidecover on that 500.  ;D

Hey Paul. That side cover pulls some pretty good comments. :) Too bad I don't have a matched set. When I got the bike, that cover was missing. I saw that one on ebay sometime after I got the bike ( I inquired about the other one and the seller had no idea where the other one was, he'd only gotten the one) and managed to win it. Now, I kinda wish I could get the other side done in a duplicate design to match. Here's the other side.

Now while this bike has some pretty decent mods to it that I'm liking and wanting details on, I particularly want to know more about this exhaust system.

Okay wpnssgt, how about it? (BTW are you or were you a weapons sgt in the USAF or a weapon Staff Sgt?) ( I was a Crew CHief on fighter planes in the USAF myself) At any rate, we'd (at least, I'd) like to hear about just what you have and are doing to that bike of yours (w/pictures please)

I'm a 2W1, Weapons Loader and currently E5 (Staff Sgt) Active Duty.  I've had this 550 for about 7 months now and have quite a list of stuff I've done.  I did lots of rewiring and initially was going to do a stock retore but have since focused on making a Cafe Style bike with the addition of stuff from other bikes.  So far I have the Forks, Wheels, and Brakes of a 85' GPZ750.  Rearsets from an 05' GSXR1000, and custom exhaust design I came up with by using the stock headers and making 2 "2-1" connectors for a 4-2 exhaust.  I still need to get it all welded up and coated and then tune the bike as it's only in a mock-up stage before I tear her down to a rolling chassis and work the engine, maybe get a 605cc kit for it. if I can find one.

I'll make a Topic and post more pics there.
