I wanted to be #200 but I could not wait any longer.  The first picture is how my CB arrived, basket not shown.  After about a year of effort, all my own except for mounting the new tires, she is shown in the second picture.  With nearly 20000 miles on the clock she still runs very well.  Having been a slow revving twin rider for many years, the little 4 at 9000 rpm still puts shivers down my spine.

I just found this site.  It's great knowing so many other people are into CB550's.  I proudly own a 1975 Candy Jade Green CB550 K1.  I'll add a few pics later.

I'm still quite new to riding, but managed to pick up a 76 CB550F a few months ago.  The last time it ran was "several" years ago, and that was on 2 cylinders.  I got it with a spark plug broken off in the head.  I got the gasket kit for the upper end the other day and just picked up a C clamp and socket with which to fashion a valve spring compressor.  Hopefully I'll be riding it this spring.  There will be many a long night spent on ebay and in the garage before then I'm afraid...
I'm sure I'll be asking plenty of questions once I actually get into working on the CB.

The other bike is a 1980 KZ250.  Also in an array of pieces.  (But in far better condition.)

Thank you Ecosse,
The architecture is from our Opera House and City of Science, all designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. It's a wonderful place to take pictures of the bike. Someday I have to go early in the morning and convince the security guy to let me in and take pictures from the inside. Wish me luck! In the meanwhile here you are some more...

Regards,
Salvatore

Absolutely beautiful! Never been there but I've seen pix of some of Spain's architecture; The Sagrada Familia and Guggenheim in Bilbao everyone knows about. I studied some of it in Art History and I seem to remember Spain's interesting mix of Muslim and Christian history.

BTW: I like those exhausts. Those aren't factory are they? Also, your bike looks pretty clean; were you just lucky or is all that nice weather kind to motorcycles?

Glad you like it Ecosse,

You're right. Valencia is not as known as Barcelona, Madrid or Bilbao, but lately is becoming a well know city for its modern architecture. Also we have a urban formula 1 racing Grand Prix and of course paellas and the fallas where everything burns march the 19th (we are now in the previous days to the big party).

My exhaust are atracting attention... If you wish to read the story here is the link: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=47630.0

I will post more pictures as soon as I have some time to download.

Best regards,
Salvatore.

Just got the bike last month. Most of it was inboxes. It's running good now but will need a clutch soon. 1978 550K.

Hello - 1972 CB500-Four (71-73 on this bike). I bought it about a month and a half ago. First bike - step up from my 250CC Honda scooter (Big Ruckus) - I'm going to leave the bike as STOCK looking as possible. It will always be a little dirty - but I am never going to chop it.

A quick picture or 2 and then I need to get back to work.

Good to be here!

Here is the newly restored 500.  Still need new emblems, and a rework on the seat.

Here is a not so great shot of my 78 CB550 K4.  I just got it a couple of weeks ago.  It is pretty stock with 9800 miles on it.  In the process of cleaning it up and need to find a seat replacement cover.  It is a blast to ride.

I'm a total newbie to SOHC bikes but am hooked on em...I picked up a 74 550 K0 Boss Metalic Maroon back in Feb 09... 2 or 3 PO but all original with 11K miles for $900...think thats good, definately in my range. Going for original daily rider here.

Haven't needed to do much but have done some easy things:
- Had carbs synced and valves adjusted - FNA in Sac.
- Rebuilt and painted brake caliper
- rebuilt petcock - cleaned and all new seals
- New EBC pads
- Braided steel brake lines
- Added OEM Grips
- New flasher
- Cotter pin on rear axle - was missing
- IBC back tire
- Tank logos
- chrome trim on tank
- seat pins
- new gas cap seal
- new battery strap
- Added tank strap/bushing - did not have one
- Added air element - missing
- New air filter - OEM
- New clutch cable - after it broke while riding the other day ::)
- removed clutch switch wire

Still need to:
- Add OEM Seat
- replace upper two mufflers
- oil, filter
- add back on helment holders  :P

April:

Stoked to be riding again after 20 years and LOVING my bike! If anyone in the Sacramento, CA area has any SOHC rides planned please let me know.

That's a beauty Mike!  I'm just finishing up a tear down and light rebuild on my 78 550.  Any questions you have, someone on this forum will most likely know the answer......or argue with another forum member about it ;D
Good Luck!

Picked up this Boss Maroon Metallic 74 550 in Feb and have been rebuilding it since, had 38XX original miles on it and was stored in some fella's garage for almost 30 years.

Everything is stock with the exception of the Bikemaster Superbike Bars I added which I think look better and fit my long lanky arms a little better.
