Sign me up! 76' CB550k2

1 month old to me, runs great, mac 4-1 and lower bars on order, then blasting the silly paint off the cases and polishing a few bits, then a little top end work while it's out, then good bearings/bushings all around and suspension work, and brake work, etc, etc... Been to work and on long weekend rides, great bike. Good PO's too, clean oil pan and supplemental clutch oil holes have already been drilled, and everything was adjusted and setup just right as bought. Hopefully do some light touring with it once its all clean and sparkly.

Got my first bike a few months ago, 1977 CB550K, I love it.

Previous owners made a few changes, ignition key doesn't unlock the seat, and needs a little wash, but good stuff overall. (also runs much better when we realized that 1 of the spark plugs was fouled, 4cyl > 3cyl)

No problem, tires are bridgestone spitfires front and rear, 100-90-19 front 110-90-18 rear. Bars are Bikemaster Superbike bars. cost me 19.95 and then I had to cut holes in them for wiring, etc. Well worth it, chrome looks nice and matches everything else and I think they are pretty comfortable too. I'll get some pictures up once my POR 15 kit dries and I get the tank back on. Also the front caliper is missing in that photo as it was being rebuilt but I have the front brake working great now with a master cylinder rebuild, goodrich SS brake lines and a phenolic piston in the caliper with some EBC kevlar pads.

PS - those tires cost me about 55 each new and I mounted and balanced them myself. Heck of a deal for tires with great reviews. If I had more money to throw at the bike I would have gone with the Avon Roadriders.... but they would have cost almost twice as much.

Just picked up this 1978 cb550 on Saturday. Needs some new carb insulators and a carb cleaning. The exhaust looks nice but does have a couple holes on the underside.

Wow, everybody's bikes are great! I can only hope that mine will tun out so good. she came with those "alphabet" 2-1's, a orangey-gold tank that had been poorly painted black, and ran great for a couple of weeks until I started messing with things, now all she does is idle and look nice.

Hi. New to the forum and it looks like this is my spot.

I hang out over in the Old Skool of ADVrider, but this is much more specific for me. I fool around with the smaller Honda twins a lot, but I had a couple SOHCs last year. Sold them; a '71 CB500K and a '78 CB750K and I really missed the 500, so here is latest project (read fixer-upper).
