Berkeley, CA.  Bought this bike a couple weeks ago (late March, 2010).  Here's how she started in my hands:

and she (currently) looks like this:

Doing a full frame-off resto/mod, which you can follow here:

I'm mostly on here just doing research, but I just found this page so I'm sharing a few pics of my bike. Its a 77 supersport, bought it cheap not running. The tank and seat were junk and I went with the older style stuff for the replacements (I think it looks much better). Its getting close to being ready for the road, still need to fix a few leaks, rebuild the caliper, air filters, and could use some new tires. Theres more I would like to do to it, but I just want to ride it!

Heres a pic of the day I bought it and got it home. I had removed the sissy bar and cattle catcher already.

Heres how it sits today.

'73 500. I bought her from a German immigrant who brought it over with him. $473.87!!! (I didn't have the change to make up the $475 we settled at, beat him down from $650.

I don't care for the seat, the high bars are OK for now. Pic 1 the way she was, Pic 2 the way she is.

pic 3 funky german spec tail light, amber for stop!!!! :o

Here is  the '75 CB550F my dad bought new when we pulled her from storage,

Plenty of old school speed mods, and quite a life its  had in its 89K miles, including  several trips down the Mexican Bahja while pulling a ton plus  8)

Follow along as I get her on the road again here

Nice work. Love the tank seat combo.. I did not know you could even get a rear fender like that.. Very slick..

Keep it up.. Do you have a build thread?

Thanks,The rear fender is a Jessi James,it came uncut and i cut to fit and added a couple extra curves.the tank and rear wheel are HD ,actually {a Harley rim laced to a Honda hub} and the tail light is Ford, its lowered about 5 1/4 inches in the rear.Oh the seat pan I made but its to bulky and heavy so i think I'm going to build a new one that's lighter and just as curvy.Future plans include fat handlebars, fork covers, mini gauge's, exhaust wrap, duel front disks and oil filter conversion. :) :)

You sure have some shop chops that's for sure. I would have no idea where to start. Its looking good.. I have a HD rim on the back on mine as well. I want a thinner rim for the front but for now I will make due with what I have. Can't wait to see how you fab the seat..

Found another one!  ;D

Hade to drive 9 hours to pick it up, but it was so worth it.
Really clean, all original and going to stay that way this time around.

I totally agree. This one's too clean and complete to chop up.
I'm going to apply for a "Collectors" plate and just enjoy it as is.
It's also the only bike I own that has passenger capabilities and the wife likes that.

Meriggi

It only has 19450 miles on the clock. Was apparently part of an estate sale several years ago, but the previous owner
didn't have a lot of time for it, so it had to go.
I picked it up for $1000.00

I was giving it a once over last night and I found the original manual in the document pouch under the seat, plus a complete tool kit.

Just got this 1974 CB550 this week - haven't even picked it up yet.  At $150.00 I couldn't pass it up!

Looks to be in pretty good shape and I'm looking forward to having some fun cleaning it up!  The previous owner says it runs but hasn't been used in two years and the front suspension may need some work (rust in the tubes).  Any advice for getting it up and going is appreciated.
