Clutch Center STUCK... HELP
« on: January 10, 2008, 08:28:26 AM »
After removing center nut, lock tab and washer, the clutch center barely budges, will only move out maybe a 1/16", it just clicks in and out a smidge. I tried gripping the clutch center w/ 2 pliers and pulling , wiggling, grunting....won't come off. So I went to my other CB750, took it apart and clutch center pulled it ez, slipped right off.
I guess I need a flywheel puller, which isn't made for this and might break the basket? I don't see how it can be pried off w/o damaging crankcases.

  Anybody run into this?

Try tapping around it with soft hammer or wood hammer handle.. then try heating it..it will groew a bit.

probably a burr or corrosion..

cant quite picture the whole thing in my mind or I would come up with something better.

Got it off. My next door plumber/neighbor moseyed over (he's a very clever sort), I suggested he tap the center shaft w/ a rubber mallet as I pull. That didn't work, he looked around the garage, found a plumber's helper, pulled off the plunger, stuck the wood handle on the clutch shaft and hammered it w/ a real hammer as i pulled. 1 minute later w/ much grunting and banging, VICTORY!
I'll never again plunge a stuck toilet again w/o thinking of a stuck sandcast CB750 clutch. The God's must be crazy.
