I totally agree with lowering the guage!!! But...I mounted the ignition key (like a dummy) on top of the headlight. I wouldnt have any room to put the key in....I'll prabaly fiberglass the hole I drilled in the headlight housing and mount it more on the side of the housing instead of centered....but that will be sometiime later.

BTW.....Nice Yamaha in your avitar! I am picking up a Roadstar 1700cc...I customized my slammed V-star and It probably gets ridden the most lately...I got Bike of the Month on the V-star forums

You could use the hole in the bucket to run the Speedo cable (or tach cable) through and just lay the gauge right on the bucket itself... Just a thought...

I'm a BOTM virgin voter but I think you're gonna pop my cherry. Gorgeous bike, very nice craftsmanship.....but..... there are a couple of glaring issues. The brackets for the mufflers? aren't shiny enough, and, the twenty third link from the front just as the chain begins to wrap onto the rear sproket seems to be a slightly lighter shade of gray than the other links. Maybe it's just camera angle or my gluttoness ingestion of caffeine and sugar drenched muffins has...... bzzzzzt,....bzzzzzzttt!!,...bbbzzzzzzttttt? Oh, what?,,, nevermind you've got my vote.  Jbird

Usually if I'm really into a project....I can get it done in a week or two of evenings.

By the builders own admission, this is a splash and dash make over for the purpose of making quick cash with minimal investment and a fast sale.

Interested in purchasing it?

Follow the thread and you will see that at the end of the day you’re basing your BOTM vote on a café seat, some nice
Magura clip-ons and a paint job. 

Where are the foot controls that complement the riding position dictated by having clip-ons? How about brakes, suspension, wiring, performance modifications, real knee pockets and the list goes on.

Have you seen the contenders in the BOTM forum?

With BOTM judges like these, I can now see why Spikeybike is still a bride’s maid.

WOW that was a Rant!....LOL  But thats OK...everyones entitled to their opinion.

As far as the splash and dash part and making quick cash?...LOL.... I disagree.... I do work for a living.. and live near the Malibu area..... I highly doubt that what I build will help facilitate my way of living. The money I make off a bike allows me to by another to work on!

I have been building these for many years as a hobby....I truely enjoy putting these bikes together. The more Cafe style Bikes I get out there riding in the LA area...the better! Especially the younger croud...who really appreciate a classic!

Perormance?.....this thing was already jetted and had a Uni filter on it...thats why I bought it. It ran like a bat outta hell!

Rearsets:... I've built many and modified a bunch...BUT.... Unless I'm stretching a tank to put me at a further back seating position....I dont think they are needed. Clip-ons are meant to bring your upper portion of your body more in a downward position and rearsets (higher) are meant to bring the pegs up higher for clearance issues. I have leaned this bike over plenty far enough and  have had no issues with pegs scraping!

But like I said..... eveyone is entitled to their own opinion!  ... By the way.... There is a Coffee Bean and Green Leaf Tea store in my area.... Would you like me to buy you some decaf?

That bike rocks!!!!!!  I really like how it came out, and I can't wait to attempt your techniques.  My only suggestion (definitely not a criticism) is that it is crying for Benjie's Pea-shooters.  However, with the expense involved I could see that being a stretch - but man, would they look awesome on that machine.

What are you asking for it on CL?
