530 chain for a '71 CB500?
« on: February 11, 2008, 12:32:43 PM »
I found a fellow near me with some unused 530 chain that I think will fit my '71 CB500 - can anyone confirm this, and/or how many links I should have?  His is 105 links.  Non o-ring is what I have to look for too correct?

None oring is correct. Links I am not sure but 104 sounds correct but get longer if you can and then use a chain splitter to remove what you do not need.

I am sure a 500 owner will give you the exact links though.

The 500/550's and 530 O-ring chains don't mix. The chain will wear into parts of the engine cases.

530 non o-ring is ok, 520 o-ring is ok too.

Your bikes chain should be 98 links I believe, but like Eldar said it's always best to have a few extra links to measure and shorten to fit.
