CB1100F shocks dont fit on a CB750 with stock pipes :-(
« on: January 12, 2008, 02:35:11 PM »
Just thought Id add this for anyone thinking of doing the same..today I tried fitting my Ebay purchase - CB1100F shocks with remote reservoir to my CB750K2 with stock HM300s....no good...the rear reservoir (when at rear of bike) hits the pipes before they can be secured to frame......if Im wrong someone tell me!!

Cheers
Andy

Sounds about right, I haven't seen that shock on any bike with 4 into 4.
Forgive the buzzard like tone to my proposition but if you decide to ditch the shocks let me know ;D

Well I will be selling....I just paid $85 plus shipping from Ebay so if you want them for that you can have them....they can also be had on Ebay for that price as well -seem to hover around this.

Thanks for the input,
cheers

Wow Andy, what a bummer  :(

Maybe you need to go with a 4-1 as well    ;)  JK

Those 4-4 look killer.

You might have already tried this, but can you swap the shocks to the other side?  The reservoirs are angled away from the bike slightly.  Maybe pointing them inward would clear the pipes...of course it might foul on the brake or the chain.

Of course the only reasonable solution is to sell your pipes...

Yes, shifting side may solve the problem with the reservoir hitting the pipes.

However you will probably run into another problem and that is the swingarm hitting the inside of the lower pipes.
It did on mine but since I was modifying my rusted out pipes anyway, that problem was easy to solve  :)

Might be harder on stock pipes unless you want to dent them for clearence  ::)
Hopefully not an option!

Thanks Dan for that - I know you have been there as I recall asking you a while ago and since your bike looked so good! Good advice and yeah Im not bending these pipes!

I think Im just need to re-sell them and go back to the `82 Bol`Dor shocks I have on just now -stock length but solid. The HM300s are not for sale  ;D They sound way too good!! I took the bike out yesterday for a test ride despite missing one baffle and wow did it sound throaty and loud......good to be out mid-Jan though.....of course we have 12` snow forecast for tomorrow  ::)......in any case looks like my leaking oil pan is now solved (since I replaced the pan) - so all good so far. Now I need to replace the stock solo fuse with a blade type as its making intermittent contact....ah never ends.....

Mr Blasty if you want those shocks you can have them for $80 (shipping included in this price)....otherwise they go back on Ebay.....

Cheers guys,
Andy

I get that they dont fit with stock pipes, but I have 4-2 exhaust. Does anyone know how much longer this cb1100f shocks are than the stock ones? Thanks in advance.
