There is no JB on the inside or outside, only on and in the crack. I basically do the same as you do with the Glue and Soda.
As far as strength, the pic listed is my tail section on my racer that was broken when some ass tried to move my bike to give him a better space for parking. It gets allot of vibrational force not to mention that it is the part that my poor girlfriend sits on when i need to pick her up from work.
It is solid and good as new.

Check it out when you get home.

Have a good one.

ONE vote for Terry's method.  The bottom snap-in fastener and a half-dollar-sized piece of sidecover had broken when I pulled it off to remove the battery for the winter.   I did as he wrote -  used a rotary tool to bevel the edges so a V would form, taped the broken part in place, filled the V with baking soda, and dropped liquid Superglue onto the baking soda.  It saturated and solidified the baking soda very rapidly; it was not possible to mix it.  It made a nice semi-opaque filler that seems to have made a very good bond.  Time will tell how it holds up, but it looks very good -- you can hardly see the crack from the outside of the cover-- and it'll be back in use tomorrow.
Don't use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice.

Good to see mate, I'm glad I was able to help. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

You ever tried sanding it? No chance, its so rubbery when dried it flexes while you rub your sidecover away

I use 2 things, the cone shaped stone, and drill bit, the drill bit is good at hi rpm using it to trim off or to get a good shaped angle.  I also use it to key the surface before i start work.
Good luck to you.

I haven't tried the stones Gersh, but I've got a couple of little metal burrs for my Dremel knock-off for "V"-ing out the plastic. Cheers, Terry. ;D
