So...am I still welcome around here???
« on: January 13, 2008, 05:40:05 PM »
Well...she has gone on to a better place! and I already miss it....

Today I sold my 78k...the new owner seems like a really good guy. He's new to the SOHC world and I highly reccomended this place so I think he has joined up but I am not sure.

It's going to be weird not having the bike and even weirder not being around here. In looking at my stats I have spent 15 days and over 22 hours on here  :o  :o. I am sure my boss will be happier as my productivity will certainly go up ( I do the vast majority of my surfing on company time...but I work for the phone company so maybe I could consider it testing the network?!?!)

I was just getting to the point where I didn't have time to work on it. The resto plateaued a while back and I know that I would never get around to finishing it off. Hopefully the new owner picks up where I left off and carries on to completion.

So, my question is...is a guy who doesn't currently own a SOHC still allowed to hang out every now and then? Ofcourse I could be like some and only post in the open forum (i.e. the boost thread and every single joke thread  ;) ).

I would hate to drop off the face of the earth entirely and fully plan on checking in on some of the on-going builds. Mainly because you guys can't keep me from checking in anyways!!! Well Steve and Bob etc can....

Let's post a poll.  Were you ever welcome to begin with?  Hands up; Who likes me?

What are you going to do here?  Ask hypothetical SOHC questions?

I'm just giving you sh!t, sure you're welcome.

I think this is a deep philosophical problem.  Truly existential.  In ontological terms, if you've sold your SOHC, do you even exist for the purposes of a SOHC owners' forum?  Does not owning a SOHC mean that the individual doesn't exist for the purposes of the forum (because they do not fit the category); or do they simply exist as a lesser form of being?  Does it make a difference if an act of volition is involved (selling the bike)?  What if they identify as a SOHC owner of their own volition, but the bike is removed against their will?

Difficult indeed.  I say we just delete all his posts and pretend he doesn't exist.  Cop-out is often the easier solution in these decisions.

 ;D

Sorry you had to sell, man.  That is kind of a difficult decision to make, especially if you rode it much.  Did you at least keep another bike?  You're not totally forlorn and without a ride, are you?

Geez, don't open a can of worms with your "Am I still welcome here" thread Dennis, the next thing that will happen is everybody will put it to a vote and they'll decide that even without a SOHC4 they like you more than they like me, and they'll boot me off! Hell man, I've got nowhere else to go........................  :-\
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

lol...yeah I was sort of expecting taking a ribbing on here for this post (kind of my intent I guess being a bit of a sadist and all). Yeah I still have my CBR but one of the best things about that bike is also it's worst trait. I can just jump on and go...no need for wrenching!

I had my faith restored in the cosmos last night though. The bike was out the driveway for like 15 minutes and my brother in law called...his CX 500 blew the shaft drive last year and he is tired of looking at it so he wants me to come by and take it off his hands (for free!)!!!

Weird how things work eh?

So I guess that leaves me with the open forum and the Other Bikes tech area...

Guess I won't be going that far away afterall (Sorry guys!)

Dennis

p.s. Medic, I think you have way too much time on your hands to think when you go off in the mountains and rescue trips...damn that was deep dude!

Once you have owned a 78K you are a member for life.

You will own another and you will keep lurking on this board to see what is out there.  You will never lose the "I want a 750" feeling.  Especially when you see one drive by.  With the swell bunch of guys here with the same interest (girls), you are welcome too.  Heck, did you see the picture of Bobby R.'s wife on page 1.  I am waiting for more pictures... ;D ;)
