Garage--Tech---going vertical
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:32:54 AM »
Outrigger for railbike is now suspended from the ceiling
with a 3-pulley lift mechanism that I got at Wallmart for $12.
Robust enough to lift a motorcycle frame , I'd say.

Is that the lift mechanism made for lifting bicycles?  I am thinking of making a rig to life at least 3 bicycles at once.
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine
        2004 HD XL883C Custom
        1977 Yamaha XS750D (in progress)
Then 1972 CL175
        1964 Yamaha YGS-1T
No ride is a Bad ride

ksirr,

Yes, made for a single bike, I think.
I sunk 3" lag screws into the overhead to make sure this thing doesn't come loose.
All the engineering is in the binding mechanism closest to the camera.

I have some eyelets I use in my ceiling to do the same thing.  Makes removing the wheel(s) etc much easier.  I used it last week to help me lift the motor onto a table.  I use simple straps (same ones to hold your bike to a trailer) instead of pullies.
