shipping options to OZ
« on: January 17, 2008, 08:57:59 PM »
I recently sold a 750 gas tank to a fellow in Australia. The post office website said it would cost $80 to ship. So I pack it up and take it to the post office. Then the clerk tells me that Oz has size restrictions that make it more expensive than other destinations.

He says that it will cost around $150 instead!  :o

Has anyone here had experience with shipping larger items to Australia? What are my other options? I haven't checked UPS, FedEx or DHL yet, but I suspect they won't be a lot lower.

I am afraid the buyer thinks I am trying to jack up his costs for my benefit. I just need to find him a reasonable quote!

That's a K0 tank, right Greg? Best thing to do is place the box on your driveway, then run your truck back and forth a few times, and after a few passes, it should be within the allowable size limit....... Ha ha, who bought it, was it Steve?

Sean Condon in California sent me out a tank and plastics to paint awhile ago, but I can't remember what the shipping charges were? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Steven Vanzetto...I assume you know him?

If you do, please tell him how honest I am!  ;)

I am really trying to find him the best shipping option.
