I contacted several CNC pipe makers and each told me it'd be an expensive start-up. I'd need to sell ALOT of pipes or sell them very expensive. None were local and it got complicated. A local race pipe-maker took one look at my Yosh pipe and said it'd take maybe 8-10 hours @ $125/hr to scratch make it. He also said whoever made my pipe was a genius. Keep in mind my pipe was hand-made and custom-built; it was not machine stamped-out.
If I had experiance welding and fabricating pipes, I'd do it myself, but its not to be.

Wished I could lay my hands on one of these pipes! Think I can build them! Maybe not 100%, but close. They problem is, more or less, the bending of the downpipes. The collector and endpipe are rather straightforward, judging by looking at the picture.

I'm not at all surprised by your experience, 736, but I watched, thinking maybe you'd get lucky and pull it off.

Same story when I tried to have my 2nd Gen pipes repro'd in SoCal about three years ago. I went with one of the largest computerized header manufacturers here. After six months of endless excuses with my Yoshi sitting on their office floor, I picked up my toy and went home.

It seems that most bending companies don't have dies small enough to accept CB750 primaries nor tight enough radaii to make the turns we need. Set up is a big (read: expensive!) gaza-gaza. RR

I dont think CNC bending equipment is an advantage here. the headers all look the same..1 bend over a 2 radius die.

The big cost is making the die nobody will have in stock

This scooter is my daily ride and because of its hard-core edginess and complete opposite of all-original (in contrast to all the restos I've been doing) makes this one a keeper. I'm kinda retro, everything on it is early 70's period (except tires, brake lines + fluids) and it fits me like a glove. There's alot of home-made mods and fabrications, so its gotten personal. And playing w/ its exhaust note akin to playing a musical instrument. RPM's, shift points, blips, throttle openings etc are all infinitely variable and always a gas to play with. Motorcycle exhaust notes really turn me on, and this sucka has it in spades.

I think I am going with the cyclex 4 to 2 to hotness. So I am going to sell my original 341"s, They will probably go on ebay first cause I am a no budget family man so I gotta make a dime everywhere I can, sorry or I would try to give them away here for cheaper if I didn't need the cash so bad.

I like that pipe.If it could be had for around $4oo...I'd be all over it. I can't see spending $600+ for a new Kerker and I have no interest in a Mac.

How many generations of Yosh pipes are there?

I have a few sets (unknown fitment),

A couple LOOK like 736,s but there is a short flat area between the upper and lower bends

Another looks like normal bent headers but seem to have a Yosh collector and tailpipe/baffle.

Shenanigans, that is an easy early style caliper mount to make, you could do it on a drill press.. I made a similar one that used CB 750 front caliper..

You guys may be asking the wrong type of benders..

A set of tubing rolls or ring rolls, could bend those easily, even with a changing radius..look for a sdhop that does tank fab for breweries or wineries, they use those machines. the kind of machine that can roll coils out of tube..

If its as easy as it sounds I might go that route instead of using the rear swing arm from a 75 or 76 750F.

The hand-bent pipes were each custom-built by Pops back in the day when his operations was just getting going, I can't imagine too many were made w/ all the time involved. He also made them for Z1's, GS1000's, CB500/550's and demand was probably overwhelming, with race teams in line 1st. I remember ordering a Yosh pipe in 1977 for my CB500-4, it was $550 in advance from a dealer in NY. After a few months of waiting, it never arrived and I got a refund. Machine-made sets were a 2nd option around that time and stamped out much faster. But not as desirable or hard-core.
I found a hand-bent Yosh pipe for a Z1 hanging in the rafters of a shop 2 years ago, I put it on ebay and it went to Japan for big bucks.
Hearing these things unbaffled is incredible (and absolutely deafening- completely over-the-top and scary). The sound actually changes pitch as it goes on the pipe, literally.
