Well I've just taught myself how to weld stainless, so I might see if I can't find some bends................  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

As of a month ago, Carpy was having a bunch made and I believe they were under six hundred black. I know that's what he put on his new turbo monster and believe he has more.

Its easy, as long as you have a "Genuine Copy"

That bike had a supercharger, not a turbo.

Hey don't be bagging Carpy, didn't you see where he said it was made by a genuine Yoshimura mechanic? Would that be a mechanic who actually worked for the Yoshimura company, or perhaps he once worked on a bike fitted with genuine Yoshimura parts?

Hey speaking of "Genuine Yoshimura Copy", does America have any "Copyright" laws regarding the use of Yoshimura labelling on non-genuine parts? If I was a "genuine Yoshimura" lawyer, I'd be having a chat with Carpy.............  ::)

a few questions about the yamiya:
will it fit on a 77 f2?
can you remove the baffle?
any problems so far with the fact that there's no rear hanger?
lastly, can any of the current owners post a video w/sound - would love to hear how that rumbles.

last comment - the yamiya would run about $530 shipped from japan.  even though carpy's costs a bit more, it doesn't seem like such a bad deal (relative to the yamiya) given SS construction and ceramic coating.  if anyone has one of carpy's replicas, a video w/sound would be a good comparo as well.

tks!

I have one made by the former Yoshimura engineer in question, Chris Redpath.  You'll have to wait for a video, since I haven't fired up my newly rebuilt 836 engine, yet.  I'm just waiting for Chris to fabricate the brake mounts and the bike is pretty much done.  I think he's going to show it at the Corsa Motoclassica next weekend at Willow Springs.

I've heard a very similar one fired up on Chris' 1978 GS 1000 (you can check it out on http://www.motogpwerks.com/motogpwerks_projects.html).  That one sounds fantastic -- not loud at all at idle (a low rumble), but it barks at high rev.  The ceramic coating is a smooth satin finish.

That Drouin blower  is sorta closer to a turbo than most Rootes type blowers.

Even in the day, when they were still open, they always had trouble with them..

they sure dont have the look of a Magnacharger...

This may just be me but I would kind of like a comparison of these replica Yosh exhausts with Kerker exhausts. Such as tone, build quality, weight and performance. Unless this is already known and someone wants to bring me into the loop!

as soon as funds allow i'm going with the carpy exhaust. i got to see the yamiya pipe in person recently and the thin walled, lightweight pipe makes me wonder about it's longevity. i've been told that the carpy pipe is a heavier, thicker walled tubing. i really dont like the kerker pipe at all, look, sound.

Yeah, apart from Carpy's usual salesmanship, his "Carpymura" pipe looks heaps better than the Yamiya stove-pipe Yoshimura replica, Carpy's is a replica of the later pipe like mine, a nicer looking pipe with much smoother curves, and tucked in a lot tighter.

I hope it is thicker though, the Yoshi pipe on my GS1000 Suzuki just fell to pieces as it was so thin, and my Yoshi CB750 pipe is paper thin too. (but very light, obviously another "Pops" design criteria. ;D

Based on the last two comments then, with the original Yosh being a thinner material, does that suggest that the Yamiya is the more faithful interpretation? Or are they just copies of different designs?

Does seem that lighter is better when trying to go fast.

I think you guys will be pleased (as I am) with the Carpy/Redpath Yoshimura pipe. The stainless steel header is not flimsy and the ceramic coating is inside and out to safeguard it from rust.

Hey guys
Man! I never get time on the Forums anymore, as I do CB750 stuff all day and half the night.
My workshop is stacked with work but miss the Forums.
OK lets see.
The Yoshi exhausts I am having manufactured is built by the guy who built them originally.
hence a Original looking Replica.
I used MY original 1973 series One Yoshi exhaust that's on my Copper Super charged Cb750 as the template.
This is hand bent, hand welded and of course fits all CB750 SOHC engines.
This has a removable baffle too.
It hugs tight to the rear swing arm too, just like my original one.
They are not cheap and really, i have not got a big mark up on these.
I got tired of using old ones that just flake away.
I did not like Mac pipes in the early years, let alone now.
Kerker are ugly but do breath very well on the 750.
Piper were the best in the UK when i was a kid but Yoshi stuff was always expensive.

The 750 is all about the breathing and pops got the Exhaust back on, the 4 into 1 i am making is nice and quality.
NO, I do not have a bracket on it, you can easily weld a bracket as people want to mount them in all sorts of areas.
Yoshi's never did and mine never moves, an since 1978 when i started building cafe Racers out of 750's I never ever had a 4 into 1 drop as there was no brackets holding the rear of the pipe.

I wish I could come on here now but get sometimes 500 emails a day, and as I type with 2 fingers and of course send parts out in the morning and build customers bikes after that, I don't get much time when i get in, else my Mrs throws a wobbly.

But what I can say is my life is 750 Honda's.
Like me or hate me, All i have ever done was promote Honda 750's and cafe Racers.
Heck, i even helped design the SOHC LOGO and printed the very first batch up for Glenn.

I have just been invited to the Sandcast show at the vintage bike days in Ohio, that's a 2500 trip there and may go, be good to see people and hang out.

Thanks for all the cool words, I know I can please all of the people, but I try hard.

I am also going to Australia and hope to see some mates there, i may go to the lakes  and race there, but time will tell, Japan is on the cards too, but #$%*, i gotta answer all the emails first.
its you lot that keep me going, good or bad.
All I can say is thanks for at least giving my stuff a ago.

You guys are great and always help each other out.
I do try hard to help everyone out.
Peace and Grease to you all.
