Well, it has been three weeks since my shoulder was worked on and it is doing much better. I keep it in the sling 100% of the time, just like I was told, I am such a good boy, lolol. I'm still typing with only one hand but it's getting a little easier. I don't have as much pain but I invariably wake myself at least three times every night when I unconsciously try to roll onto my right side, the side I naturally sleep better on. The stabbing that results is a sure fire way to wake me up for an hour or so, or at least until I take some aleve. Imagine that, 2 years ago, when I used aleve to keep my ankle from hurting so much it didn't do a thing for me, but it helps my shoulder great, go figure.
I think my doctor will have me start doing exercises starting next Friday, not sure yet, depends on what he sees on my next visit.
I am getting more and more exercise every day, though most days I still need my back brace. It's a real pain to put on one handed but I grin and bear it. I find it just a tad easier every day to keep on walking where I need to go, or just where I want to go, instead of depending on friends and neighbors to drive me around the island. Pretty soon my back will be strong enough again to support me and I'll find a day where I don't need it anymore.
I am sleeping better as well, but that might have a little bit to do with the Carolans Irish Cream than anything else. I limit myself to a single glass every night before bed and it seems to do wonders to help me wind down and actually get sleep. I am worried though that I might find it a crutch for sleep instead of a gentle nudge, so I will stop for a while once this bottle is done with.
Anyway, I have probably bored you enough with my tales of recovery, and will bid you all adieu for tonight. Keep an eye on the for sale boards, pretty soon I'll be listing a couple sets of jugs, 2 sets of pistons, and a head or 2. I think I'll contract with Cycle Exchange to have a set of 836 cylinders done for Rita, and I expect I will have my front end sometime around February or March. I just bought a set of neck bearings from a local Honda shop that was glad to see them go, apparently they had been sitting on the shelf for longer than the parts manager could remember and he kept thinking about sending them back to Honda to get them out of his inventory. Lucky for me he is half packrat, lolol.
See ya'll soon,
Jeff.
