Awesome! I'll be taking a trip there this summer....
I put a lot of blood and sweat into a BMW Isetta a few months back at work and I fell in love with the thing. Makes you wonder why our current modes of transportation is the way it is.... Do we really need our daily drivers to be such huge honking lead sleds?

That's not far from where I am. The guy owns Double Bubble bubble gum. Hence the bubblecar interest.

we ought to do a ride from somwhere in the southeast to there. hell i could do a bbq here in columbia and do the ride before or after.

I haven't seen some of those in ages.

A neighbor up the street had a Goggomobil... the kids used to get a kick out of yanking the front wheels back and forth to watch the steering wheel spin.......

saw a Lloyd at Pick-N-Pull a coupla decades ago.... it wasn't missing much.

Safety... Safety... Safety...

Those little toy cars do not meet modern nerfworld safety rules... megabumpers, door latches, door bars, crumple zones, automatic seat belts, air bags, douchebags.... load all that stuff on and 500cc isn't going to move the thing.
The alternators couldn't handle power windows and a stereo amp.
The engine couldn't turn a power steering pump and an a/c compressor.
These are all just as vital as the safety stuff.
Compare a '67 Mini Cooper to an '07 for proof.

Right?

If there's interest, we could also barbecue down there for those that won't be coming through Columbia. Hard Labor Creek State Park is nearby with pavilions, bathrooms etc. And for anyone wanting to spend the night, there are hotels close by, or the park has cabins for rent and camping spaces.

Just a bump to see if we can get it together.

If you're able to commit, post here. Once there's a few of us that agree on a date, and what we want to do, we can post it to the Events section.

I'm thinking we can meet up at Hard Labor Creek State Park, have some food around noon, then ride to the museum by 1-1:30, then back the park for dinner, beer and motorcycle stories.

Here's a link to the park and next time I'm through that way, I'll check the sizes of the cabins to see what they'll accommodate, so let me know also if you would be spending the night or intend to go home in the evening.

Blue Moon Cycles http://www.bluemooncycle.com/ab_tour.htm is in Norcross which is about an hour toward Atlanta, so we could do that later in the day and possibly stay at Stone Mountain Park for the night. I don't think the Microcar Museum will take hours and hours, so we might have some additional time.

My chemistry teacher in senior school back in the old country had a Heinkel bubble car. He regularly found that inexplicably it had made its way into the chem lab. Half a dozen husky students could manhandle it through the double doors into the lab.

Ha- that reminds me of the AH Sprite I had in Highschool. My 'friends' on the footlball team used to think it great sport to relocate it in front of my locker.
