Fiancee and I took the msf class together, and after a little while riding backseat, she picked up an 85 rebel 250.  She hadn't driven a bike in a few months, so we were doing some parking lot practice for a bit, then I borrowed the bike for a few weeks while my 4 was down.  When I put it away I noticed that two of the exhaust studs were goine and the po had strapped the pipe to the bike.  I thought about drilling/ easy out ing the studs myself, but its an akward angle, I've never done it before and I have an anemic drill.

I kept meaning to get to it or take it somewhere and never did.

It got put up back in november and sat since, and this being my first year riding, I didn't get to the stabil, because I like to ignore problems and not deal with them.

Local rider who is starting up a shop is going to drill the studs for me, but I have to get the bike runnigns o I Can ride it to his shop.  After some effort, some fresh gas and starting fluid I have the bike idling, but as soon as I roll on the throttle it dies.  I can nurse it up some, but it's not ride-able.

What should I change next?  I'm thinking I should look at plugs, but figured it won't hurt to annoy you guys for advice

Could it be your battery is dead. Thats an electronic ignition i think. Batteries last a few years. Either charge the battery or get it runinng and hit the highway for an hour or so. Take your cell phone.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!
