To you veterans, I am sure my banal posts about hearing the bike run the first time, etc are quickly growing old! I am sorry, it has been 35 since my last bike and I am AMPED!

I am making arrangements to get a replacement front caliper. Even with no front brakes, the rear drum is in great order. So, I tentatively pulled the '78 out of my driveway and gave her a spin.

With only rear brakes I couldn't justify running it through all gears. The clutch and tranny worked as smooth as glass and the motor pulled strong, so needless to say I am very happy!

Congrats!

It will take a while to come down from the euphoria.  Don't let it get you in over your head though. 

I personally wouldn't ride much without a front brake.

I can't wait myself.  I've never heard a 750 in the flesh, or ridden one, so I'm in a similar boat.

I'm in the same boat, I can't wait to ride my 78. I'm praying for rain, to melt the snow. Sitting on it in the garage just ain't the same. ;D

Awesome.  Give yourself a pat on the back for perserverance and have a much deserved cold one.  Then get back to work. ;D
Seriously, it is a great feeling.  For some of us it never gets old.  I still call my wife out to listen after I've gotten one started for the first time.  It's usually accompanied by me dancing around the garage and her rolling her eyes.

Get a front brake on her and give it a twist.  Then you'll really have a grin on your face.

Had my bike under a tarp in the garage for 17 years. When I finally got her out and running, it was like hooking up with an old girl friend. Nice!!
