I'm not local to the seller, but I can re-ship the package to the UK if you'd like.  A quick check of shipping costs shows it to be $35 for a 5lb package, so give or take some for the actual cost.  You might want to check to see if the size of the item is going to be an issue; I know usps.com (US Postal Service) has some limitations, but this item might be well within those.  Anyway, if you go through with the purchase and want me to help with shipping, PM me and we'll work out the details.

What a putz.  What's the big deal with shipping to England?

He's about 45 minutes from me +/-.  I'll ship it.  Ask him if he ever gets to Asheville or Acme Motorcycles on 74-A.  He can leave it there or I can meet him somewhere.  I hate talking on the phone, so give him my e-mail;
cursethedarkness@bellsouth.net    You do know that shipping is going to be more than $5, right?

If the seller didn't accept Paypal payments, I'd agree with that statement, but he does.

Paypal offers protection to sellers only if they ship to a confirmed address, and since they only "confirm" addresses within the United States, any seller taking a Paypal payment and shipping overseas is taking the risk of losing their money/item.  To add to that, ebay also doesn't allow you to stipulate that foreign buyers must pay with a money order or cashier's check if you also accept Paypal.

I have a "confirmed" PayPal address, as do thousands of others around the world.

Is PayPal.com really that parochial?

I know nothing about Paypal except;
It's owned by Ebay now.  The payee is charged 3% of the total, which includes the cost of shipping.  I think that should be illegal, and I discourage the use of Paypal.  A couple of times, I have waited for money orders from Australia.  No BiG Deal.  I think people who live in strange places like Hawaii and Australia are used to not getting shipments over night.

2 hours to go...
Have to say- I'd be hard-pressed to bid on something with pictures that bad.
today and tomorrow will be good weather and he lives in a places with decent roads.  Let me know if I'm going for a ride.  Well- I am anyway, but you know-

Is PayPal.com really that parochial?

I just checked on this, and their Seller Protection Policy now covers transactions between the U.S., Canada and the U.K.  So at least that's a little better.

Paypal protection? Give me a break. I know some sellers have sent the items, and later the buyers have claimed the package never arrived and Paypal have withdrawn the money from the sellers.

From that point -or if some sellers know somebody who has gone through that-, sellers will start sending everything overseas via registered mail -more expensive for the buyer-, or refusing to sell overseas altogether. That is very bad practice in my opinion, as even when you run a risk of having a buyer asking for a refund, you are better off the more bidders you have, genuine or not.

Furthermore, for things of low value, it is pointless to ask for a refund because Paypal always retain a given fee, say 30 or 40 bucks, so for many items you won't get any refund at all even if you never got what you paid for. I have had a couple of items never received and have never asked for a refund, as I don't think either that anybody would pretend they sent me something they didn't just to rip me 40 bucks off.

That's exactly why it's not a smart move as a seller to ship an item to an address that doesn't fall within paypal's seller protection guidelines.  If the seller follows the guidelines and ships with Delivery Confirmation, the buyer can't get their money back by falsely claiming that the item never arrived.

And as for the part about paypal keeping $30 or $40 out of the money refunded to a buyer, I'm not sure where you got that from because it's not true.  If a buyer requests and is granted a refund by paypal, they are refunded the total amount they originally paid.
