You probably have heard about that advertising from Honda that is regarded to change the public view of motorcyclist. I have several motorcycle magazines from the mid 60's and haven't find it anywhere, only reproductions in new books.

Where was it published? Not even in the early 60's magazines. I have asked magazine sellers before buying and they tell me it is not there. I just wanted to get me a copy but can't find it. The only thing that I can think of is that, if they wanted to change the public view of motorcycles, it was published in general magazines and not in motorcycle magazines, that, after all, are bought by people already in the vibe and not by those you want to attract to.

Here is an image from '61 and I think you're right, it doesn't appear to be one you would find in a biker mag.

We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Look in LIFE magazine early- mid 60's. Honda broke new ground in places in national advertising where motorcycles had never tried. Smart- as they say on Madison Ave: "Don't sell the steak, sell the SIZZLE!"

Raul-

Somewhere I have a book that gives the date timeframes in which that ad campaign ran. It might help to narrow your search.

I'll look for it tonight.

Yep USN20, thanks for the link!!! I will try to get a hold of the actual magazines, you can always buy them for the same price of the single ad page.... but I just want one. I don't mind collecting brochures, but paying for magazine ads seems like a waste of money to me.

During some time I was chasing the "Life" issue that treated the Hollister incident, but was outbid many times and they sold for a big amount of money -something like $40-, so I just gave up. I will try to get the scanned pages, I'm pretty sure they are somewhere on the internet.

In Aaron p. Frank's Honda Motorcycles I came across the following:

The "You Meet The Nicest People" ad campaign was concieved by a firm called Gray Advertising. The ads ran in high-volume circulation general-interest magazines such as Life, Colliers', Sports Illustrated and The Saturday Evening Post. The ads ran from 1962 through 1963.

That's all I could find. (It also mentioned a 3-page article in Time magazine circa 1962 on Honda with a photo of the American Honda chairman Jack McCormack riding a CA77...)

Thanks for the info Jonesy. I have that very same book but haven't read it yet.

I just found a picture in one of my books of Russ Collins with a triple-engined CB750 dragbike
