I got an email from Anubis yesterday saying he sent a set to me registered mail. I'll post it if and when they arrive. Hell, he's got 'em on sale now and I paid full price! >:(

ZANE: I really like what you did to the faces. . .very kewl. I have been looking FOREVER for some all black, plain faces and have just been resigned to the fact that I guess I will have to make my own. I mean, checkers, nekked ladies, 8-balls and all that are neat but I just want something simpler like yours.

They kind of remind me of the old HRD-Vincent gauge face . .. .

Thats exactly the look I like on those Vincent Guages, wouldn't be too hard to move the needle round to that end of the dial either.

Thanks for the compliment.  If I could make the time to figure out how to print on vinyl, I'd do more of the gauge face - making work.  It's fun.

Ah, that old Vincent gauge - you'd probably have to bash it with the palm of your hand to get the needle to come up off of zero.  Judging by the odometer, that needle hasn't moved much at all.   :)

I did the white one after I saw Carpy's for the first time:

And here's a slightly sharper one of my tach ...

Carpy struck me as a nice fellow.  Although he doesn't stock 400F faces, he offered to make me a couple.  He even emailed me this picture of a 400F he used to have.  I like it, so here it is .....

Cheers,

Zane

Any chance you guys will be doing bone stock green faces? Green and red for the redline area? Clocks and Dials is a long way away and $$ and Anibus and Carpy seem to have custom only, plus serivce issues from Anubis.

Calling Carpy...Think about this, You have awsome guage faces...Anubis is obviously having some problems at the present time...heres your chance to swamp the market on this item. Try an end of summer sale on guage faces for 30 buck and I'll be the first to order 2 sets. No guff...I have them picked out already.   :-X

I had my PayPay account suspended once (it was my mistake...thought I had shipped an item and I hadn't). When I refunded the fellow's money with my apologies I contacted PayPal and they reinstated my account–easy as that. Strange that he's having so many problems due to your complaint to PayPal.

On a different note: I'm a graphic designer by day and would be happy to help anyone out with providing eps files and/or redesigning your scanned gauge faces...free of charge of course.  ;)

I ordered a set of faces from him a few months back and when I received them they wouldn't work with my gauges.  I guess there are some differences between the gauges on the 550 models or something.  Anyway I contacted him and he sent me a new set without the screw holes punched in so I could do it myself.  He was very good about getting the problem sorted out.  I really love the faces and they have been holding up really well so far.

Hey Jim, about your offer to help out with gauge faces...
I'm an architect and am somewhat familiar with Photoshop and some of the other graphics programs... Could you give me some help in getting started with creating some faces? I have access to color laser printers and plotters and such... I would imagine it wouldn't be that hard??  I guess i'm needing info on scaling and dimensions....

Thanks.

Ps. I'm wanting to create some of those 'yellow' faces with black #s.

Russ, I'd be happy to lend a hand. Not sure how I can help with dimensions though, seeing as I don't have any gauges on hand. If you can give me dimensions however, I'd be happy to do the design/layout work for you. In fact, once the basic dimensions are in place, it would be the easiest thing in the world to create any type of gauge face you wanted...SOHC logo, different fonts for numbers, sky's the limit.

If you decide to do it yourself, I'd really recommend using Illustrator instead of Photoshop; Photoshop is really just for working with photos and creating artwork for internet use. If you're going to print the file an Illustrator eps is the way to go.

Let me know if you'd like my help.

Hey DustyC-

I'm wondering if you have a file for the white style shown below:

http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb162/Honda_Parts/gauge-2.jpg

Just the ticks mark and numbers are what I want, but I need it in the original orientation.  I'm going to have a go at getting it made in vinyl (know a ecent sign shop nearby.)

thanks!

Chris

Short answer, I don't know at the moment.  I'll take a look where I can and let you know.   The computers took a collective dump and I don't know what's still around.

Here are my additions; the tach from a '71 model, and a shot of both the guages.  I didnt get to scan the speedo before I updated it. I got a little antsy I guess.

newcbguy-

the tach from the '72 model - is that the original face?  That white is what I want, and even though the light holes aren't wanted, perhaps it would be easier to source the actual faces from a different year rather than simply print new decals...
