Cold on the prairie

  It was a wee bit chilly in my backyard yesterday -51C (-59.8F) with the wind chill factor. This was about 3 liters of boiling water tossed into the air. Snow is crunchy underfoot also at this temperature.             Interesting phenomenas, maybe someone can explain the science.

We have been getting around -40 here the last couple if days. It feels so cold that if you tried to pee outside you would have an icicle hanging from your johnson!

It wasn't quite as cold here this a.m., maybe -20 to -30F with the windchill. I had an early appt. My hair was still wet from a shower and was frozen solid before I even got to the car.

I guess y'all need a jacket now eh?

I remember tamping a driveway with one of those gas powered handlebarred things in Ottawa.
I was 16 it was zero and snowing and I had my shirt off before I was done.
Dry cold isn't as cold right?

David, I did hear y'all were fixing to hit an actual -40°F and meant to ask how it was going.

    The -51C with the windchill was only a still air temp of -38C so yes, you're right RM, its dry, so not really that cold. ;D ;D  The forecast for tomorrow and later in the week is for balmy mid -20'sC  so we'll be back in tee-shirts too Fuzzy ;D

Now that is just too cold! I knew there was a reason I moved south from Canada.

Ha! Dave we managaged to avoid that chill here in LLoyd..we only got at lowest -48.

Got up to +51F on Tuesday, and by that night, was -2F which was a 53 degree temperature swing in less than 7 hours.  Did I ever mention that I HATE winter?  -30 or -40 is just insane!  I don't know how you Canada dwellers can take it!  :o

A fellow on the fiat list posted,

That's like saying, I was just a wee bit mauled by a lion, but I killed him with my pen knife eh?

I was riding in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago and got caught in Red Rock canyon as the sun fell behind the mountains.  Went from 63 to 17 in about 15 minutes.  Still had to ride the entire canyon(15miles) because it is a 1 way... SUCK!!!  Although I was still happy because I was riding a motorcycle!!!

...it is 80 degrees outside as I type this...just heard the ac kick on.  ;D I will have to take all the liners out of my jacket to go to the bike ride tonight.  ;)

Lets hope the weather is as good for the first 2 weeks of March when I am down there Techy!! Actually I will be in Kissimmee but close enough! Lord knows I could use a break from these Canadian winters too!...Working on a way to drag my CBR down for the trip so I can get a couple of riding days in but the wife isn't overly fond of a family vacation where I spend all my time riding  ::)  ::)

Gale force winds here in my neck of the woods, sleet & snow forecast for the next couple of days  :(, motorway was closed today for lorrys etc as they were being blown over and i guy was killed this morning after his lorry was blown over, roll on summer ;),  cheers mick.

Well, I grew up in that sort of cold (Winnipeg) and had enough sense to move to a more temperate location (Toronto) in my early 20's.  I remember that cold though, enough to keep me from going back there any time other than July/August :)
