Carbs are interchangeable?
« on: January 31, 2008, 04:50:10 PM »
I have a rough idling '76 750 - it also leaks fuel from the far left carb when it's on the kickstand. So I figure it needs a good cleaning. It so happens that I have another set of old 750 carbs sitting around. My plan is to clean and refurbish the ones off the bike and use them to quickly replace the ones on the bike. This is my first time cleaning carbs so I figure that if I screw it up I can replace the original ones and the bike will still run...

My question is this:
the carbs on the bike are 086A and have a 105 jet and the ones I want to replace them with are 7A with a 120 jet, I'm running a Kerker 4-1 so I'm assuming the larger jets may help.
Apart from jet size are there any real differences in the carbs? I'm assuming they are interchangeable apart from that.

As always, thoughts are appreciated.
