Pardon me... but what's the point of these???

Pardon my ignorance ???, but I remember staring at these plugs in the crankcase a while back and I still cant figure out what their purpose is (other than to hold the oil in the crankcase! ;)).

Did these serve some point in manufacturing?  Or does oil pool around these plugs that you cant drain via the normal oil change method.

Maybe to provide access of some sort, but needed to be oil-tight? ???

they are plugging the ends of where the oil galley was bored.

I have one plug in my CB350 and I always thought it was to provide for a pressure gauge.
