new paint, pic added
« on: January 27, 2008, 02:53:13 PM »
just finished with the basecoat of corvette competition orange on my tank and side covers and cafe seat. i swear that stuff is so damn bright it creates it's own light! i brought it into the house after it dried to the touch, figured it might help it to cure in a nice warm and dry enviroment rather than the cold garage. this is before clearcoat

The base coat looked so good, it is a shame, a crying shame. You may want to consider stripping it all the way down and starting over.

Now comes the "fun" part. Sanding all the crazing to get it smooth again so you can start over.
 Good luck,
 DG

a couple of aplications of aircraft remover then a VERY thorough bath of detergent and a pressure washing took care of ALL the paint lol. oh yeah now i get to do a little bodywork too, dog tripped me as i was carrying the tank out to the garage and i dropped it.

I would say with all of the incidents. I would attend Church services before going any further. ;D

wish i could afford a new tank now, the dents are both right in the area that has a bit of a line before going down the side of the tank. i'll never be able to get it to look right. i cannot bondo to save my life. so for the time being the bike is staying in primer. after all the time i spent getting the surface perfect for the paint

i havent touched it since the clearcoat debacle. i put the petcock back on and am riding the bike in bondo and primer. the tank has dents in 2 bad spots, no matter what i do i cant get the lines right. for the time being i have given up i'm just so discgusted with it. i may even sell the damn thing. i'm THAT fed up with it right now, not just the paint.
