Topic: the machine shop seems to have misplaced my parts...

took the head home from the shop for my '73 cb750 to bead blast, paint, and clean up the intake ports, and my machine shop seems to have lost all of my valves, springs, retainers, etc. he remembers me walking out with the bag, and i remember leaving it on the work bench, but in any case, it is nowhere to be found and now we have to source all of the parts. 
 
SO... anybody have a spare 750 head they'll let go for cheap? sure don't want to have to buy 8 valves, springs, and retainers for a spec head.

This would frustrate me and I feel for you.  I've seen entire cylinder heads as well as motors on ebay for pretty good prices.  I have extras of some things like cam, cam holders and bearings but not the entire head.  If you're looking for a piece or two let me know.  You're going to need a running head to get a pair of those orifice jets!  Hopefully you kept them...

i have the cam and towers in my shop-- it was only the valves, springs, and keepers. i've searched everywhere and i'm convinced it's at their shop somewhere. i was giving the benefit of the doubt, but the had them for sure.

I've got plenty of retainers and springs. I've got valves too but these valves are generally beat to crap at this point. I may have a set of early keepers too.

thanks, mike. i figured someone like you might have springs in a box from heads that upgraded to kibblewhites or something comparable. let me know if you think you have a complete set, and PM me how much you want for them. the frustrating part is that these valves and guides were in perfect shape, and the head needed nothing but re-cutting the seats. they just stripped another head for me (the one i bought the guides from you for), for which i had to buy new exhaust valves...at least they didn't lose those.

I have a 74 head which was pulled off a decent motor.  One cylinder was funky from sitting.  But I bet the head's still in good condition. 

Some "mechanic" took much of it apart so I have much that you may need.  I can send what you like your way.  Just reimburse the shipping.

Others on here have done the same for me.
