Terry in Aus. thanks for the reply opened up points cover tonight fair amount of oil in there.I'm going to replace seal but looking @parts diagram there is a o ring on advancer shaft.Did search on how to remove shaft but didn't find anything.Looks like it threads in.Just a little nervous because shaft is not available.Maybe oil is just from seal and don't mess with shaft

Mine leaks from the points cover also. I was under the impression the shaft seal is a lipped seal and couldn't be replaced (correctly) without splitting the cases. Any chance, that since there is an O-ring on the shaft, that it the source. ???

FYI, you can still get the shaft, a repo, from david silver spares and cmsnl
