Cb750 K1 white face gauges?
« on: February 05, 2008, 04:08:06 pm »
I just saw a bike that was a friend of a friends today. It was an all original '71 750 K1 even had the original pipes in very nice shape. There was one thing that I've never seen before; original white-faced gauges. They were correct for '71 with the "idiot lights" in the faces. He said the gauges were factory and never modified, there wasen't anything that looked like they had been opened up either. The guy at the local Honda shop (an old timer) said he's heard of them before but never saw any in person until these. Anybody know anything about this? and No, this isn't the police issue speedo but both tach and speedo. I'm curious now . . .

The Yamiya site has these white faces listed on their web for a K1.  Does this look like what you saw...
1970 CB750K0 - Candy Ruby Red
1973 CB750K3 - Candy Bacchus Olive or Sunflake Orange
1970 Chevy Chevelle SS396 - Cortez Silver
1976 GL1000 Sulphur Yellow

Yes, that is what they look like. What are these gauges? It says "replica" on the web site so I think that means that they were original optional gauges. Does anyone know something about them?

I don't know about these particular faces but when I was in the MR2 owner's club we had them. A member had posted them in the correct scale, you just printed them off and installed them. The tricky part was getting the needles back in the right spot! I screwed up on the fuel gauge and it read wrong.
