Hello, glad I found this site!
I bought a '71 750K1 in 1978 before I was 16 as my first bike. It came with an 811 kit and chrome struts in place of the rear shocks. Mulhollind shocks were the first thing I bought for it. I got 4 tickets in the first 6 days I owned it and prompty lost my license for 6 months after that (before I turned 16).
Anyhow, I learned alot on that bike. Not the least of which was how to crash it. 6 front ends in total before it was all said and done. But I learned how to simply rail that thing.
Later on, I was looking through the, "performance" section of my old Clymers manual (which I still have) and ended up doing an RC engineering stage I 836 kit. Complete valve job, lightened crank and alt. undercut 2nd and third gears, shot peened rods with floating wrist pins and all new bearings everywhere, engine and transmission along with all new nuts and bolts. The thing did clutchless wheelies in first with stock gearing.
Well, as things happen, my last date with the mountain ended up doing a really good number to the front end. Back then I had no money or resourses to do anything about it. I moved on to a CB900F, then CBR929RR, ST1300A, and GL1800A.
I still Have the 750, albeit, still with a twisted front end.
Hows that for an opening post???
I'll start another to ask for help locating items and really to see if this bike can be restored to some respectable condition.
Thanks for looking.
