If you have a K model Honda, leave it alone! Eventually the constant turn of the wires and your bars might cause it to short.... In retrospect I think the stock K series Honda ignition position is really trick!!

A few years ago I relocated my ignition to my bars and now realize it's ugly! I'm putting it back to it's original spot. OK maybe getting rid of the ignition switch altogether would be better. And having a secret switch would be tricker!

I didn't say it was pretty.......

I haven't seen the turning short the wires if they have the proper cover on the outside.

Relocating them is hard on the switch and solder connections in and on same.

It's also not supposed to be exposed to all that water, so unless you're clairvoyant when it comes to rain, leave it where it is.

i'm on a 550k1, but my bike came with the ignition moved up top.  Just broke(wires disconnected from the switch) and I wasted a lot of time before someone told my why the wires on my replacement were so short.

Basically just cut the wires in half, solder in some longer pieces and rewrap.  I've got a the rusty little scrap of metal that had mine setup up top if you're interested.  Could probably be sanded and cleaned up.

I guess I am backwards, 'cause I relocated my '78 that had a bar mounted key to the old school left side under the tank location. I always liked it there on my earlier K's...

I found a 550K that had an aluminium mount for the ignition that came with its own billet aluminium switch cover, for when the the key wasn't in the ignition. It attaches to the rearward two bolts that hold the idoitlight panel on top of the handlebar mounts.

I you look REAL close, by my left knee in the avatar, you'll see my keyswitch. The stock K0-K5 wiring would let you move it back to there, under the tank, where it stays out of the rain and roadwash much better. And, the wires won't wear out from movement.  ;)
