2 Wire Turn Signal
« on: February 07, 2008, 12:56:15 PM »
Good day all! Just want to thank you all for the answers to my questions. The bike is running nicely now!  ;D I tried to use the search function but it won't let me. One question. I ordered new turn signals from the net. They came with 2 wires. The lights stay on but won't blink. What could be the problem? Or do I need to buy another set? 74 CB750 is the bike. Thanks in advance and ride safe!

The search function has been turned off temporarily while Glenn sorts out some resource issues.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

What color wires did you attach them new sigs to?  What bulb type/number do your new signals have.

I did the same thing--used LED-based, fairly small signals, and the blink function doesn't work. The good news is, I found the mis-connection the PO had on the right turn signal--is wouldn't light up when the bike was on. At least the LED's do that. Manually, they all work.

I assume you bought new FRONT signals? If so then they should have 2 wires (stock ones do). On a stock CB750K4 you have right side is blue to blue and left side is orange to orange (inside headlight shell) (or vice versa). I believe one wire is for the running light and the other for the indicator. If its not flashing make sure you have them in the right female connector and also check your flash relay (under left side cover is working).

good luck
Andy

One thing everyone forgets is the actual switch housing on the handlebar. Mine needs cleaning as it does not like to blink and that is my trouble. Make sure your contacts are clean.

For my situation, I think its an LED issue, as my turn signals worked fine prior to putting the new ones on. As to what would make these work....ummmm...tis a puzzlement...

You need to switch your flasher out for an electronic one.The LED's do not draw enough to make the old thermal flasher work. You can use a standard 2 pin automotive electronic flasher from your local auto parts store, and it should make those LED's work.

Mmm...I didn't see any 2-pin connectors, but made a 3-pin work with the addition of a ground connection. Of course, that only makes the back signals flash--why should this be simple? Now I need to resolve the fronts.
Thanks for the help.
