looks great. Have the similar setup in the rear of my bike. I keep bending the plate on big bumps.

Wow, that is one clean bike. I like the rest were taken back by the white and gold, I must say it is spectacular. Gonna show the bike, or will it just be a daily rider?

honestly this was my first old bike/build...i have taken my 06' S2R monster apart and powder coated a lot, chopped the taillight and lowered the gauges and headlight but other than that i'm new to this...it only took 1-1/2 years  ;D

well i've rode it a little bit and i have the rear shocks set pretty stiff....i live in the midwest so the pot holes big....i hit some and no bottoming out but it's a stiff ride...i'll take them down 1 notch at a time and see where it falls but i think i have room to move still...

so here it is out in the daylight...drove it around a bit today...it's not charging (regulator will be here friday) so i couldn't go far...it rides great...the wheels may have a little wobble to them but hardly noticeable...got up to around 70mph (approx. since i still don't have the speedo hooked up yet) and she rides good and straight...got a leaky oil plug but that was expected since it was originally stripped out and the previous owner put in a rubber style one...i'll be on the look out for a new oil pan soon...carbs leak if the gas is not shut off when sitting but my 550 does the same thing, probably needs a rebuild kit (note to self, shut off the gas)...for some reason i feel like a bad a$$ when riding it...hahaha

Very nice. Hard to believe that is your first build. You may give Carpy a run for his money! ;)

Don't suppose you live near the Ill/Wis boarder do ya? Would love to see that in person. I have not seen any CB anythings around here.. Just mine.. kinda lonely that way... :)

Well it looks "bad ass" so i suppose it goes with the territory.... ;D

Take your wheels in for a balance, since you pulled them apart they could probably do with one.

well i have got the Acewell speedo sensor mounted....made a little plate and drill and tapped a couple holes into the right front caliper bracket, then drilled and tapped a couple holes into the plate to mount the sensor...then drilled and tapped a hole in the rotor where the magnetic sensor would cross the speedo sensor...the directions get you close with there formula on calibrating it so i mounted my gps to the tank and went riding around for 10-15 minutes pulling over every couple to try another number...it lets you type in a number between 1-3000 i think...the direction said the if tire size was 19" the number should be 1516mm which is the circumference...it didn't say where to mount the sensor though or if it is the outside of the tire or actual 19" tire size (for 19" rim) so i think that is what makes the number vary....i ended up at 1950mm and it's within 1mph to my gps depending on when i looked down ;)...everything else on the acewell unit works great as well....couple of pics




other updates:
i have brought the rear shock adjusters down 2 notches from stiffest setting and have not bottomed out...it is a stiff ride though, just not as bad as originally...the breather is smoking once in awhile...still hoping its the piston rings needing to free up from sitting so long....i think i may mount a breather tube back into the oil tank as the stock one did...the carbs have been my arch enemy since i have been done with the build...still dialing them in and trying to get them to stop leaking...i think i am finally close with the leaking after replacing the needles and fuel line....going to get them synced soon...

other info...
she won best japanese modified at rockerbox in milwaukee and best asian/european mild custom and a cycle show in chicago over the winter...cafe racer mag asked to display it in their booth at the IMS show in chicago in February as well....so the responses have been good for this build...since it was received so well i decide to have a go at couple more builds...i have a 74 RD350 and 78' CB550 with sidecar I am currently working on as customs...check out the website for pics and info...

You sure deserved it!!! Very clean and well done. Awesome job taking on the Speedo Sensor, your a better biker then I for doing that..

Bad ass bike deftone! (I dig listening to the Deftones, wondering if there's a connection ;D). Your bike looks sharp as hell, love the white and gold color scheme and clean look.  Maybe I'll get to peek at it if you're in the area sometime!

yeah that bike is very loud..."almost" too loud...it gives the HD guys a run for there $ on the DB meter ;)

I think he was more getting at the fact that he likes the Deftones, he likes your bike - must be something in the name.

this project really escalated quickly. it went from something like what I have to amazing, I just have to figure out the steps between those two levels.   ;D

SWEEEEEET BIKE!!!!, Ive seen hundreds of cafe style bikes but this one stands ALONE. It appears to be a newer model production bike because the styling appears factory or pro built. Great choice of parts and colors. Excelent Job.

mounting worked out ok...i had to weld on a couple tabs to use dzus fittings....the right alignment was hard to obtain but we got it...
