How hard to adapt 77 cb550 accel pump carbs to 76 cb550?

Has anyone tried this? Is it worth the trouble? I've never ridden a later CB550 with accel pump carbs. What do you guys think?

None of the CB550 carbs have accelerator pumps.  The CB750 carbs do, though.

From what I understand the accelerator pumps are only there as a work around for the EPA regulations back in the day.  I may be wrong, but carbs prior to then did fine without them, just had to run a little richer so that when you opened up the throttle it didn't get too lean during hard acceleration.

'79-80 650 (pump) carbs should fit the 550 head. i haven't tried it myself, but i am fitting 750 carbs to my '79 650 head going on my 718cc project, and people have reportedly used 750 carbs on 550s, which would lead me to believe that the spacing of the three must be pretty close. i'll try and remember to compare some when i'm at my shop tomorrow.
