Did those forks really get rebuilt by LE, or did the previous owner just put the sticker on?

Im asking because I had LE do my CBR and TLR forks, Jim does amazing work and the guys in his shop are really knowledgable as well. I didnt even think about have him rework the classics.

The gauges look very tight, and the seat/tank paint job is awesome. I was thinking about going stardard with my restoation project, but some of the aftermarket options are really nice.
Where can I find more info on the tank/seat?

The previous owner did say the stickers were from the person who set up the front suspension. Personally, I was like 'wth' with putting a sticker on the fork lowers ... and they'll be coming off too. The forks are getting PC'ed black. Thefront end felt nice, but I have yet to ride the bike hard. I bought it - putted around on it for a very short bit - then pulled it in the garage and started pulling stuff off.

As pointed out by ffj, the tank/seat is from Benjie. I have what he calls the 'Dolphin' tank.

ffjmoore - the triple tree was already on the bike when I got it. The previous owner had it made. Looks to be CNC cut from a solid block of aluminum.

Wanted to put the tank on so I could give myself some inspiration .. ya know, sorta like seeing a light at the end of the tunnel thing? Couldnt find my side cover bolts and gave up looking after 30+ minutes through the entire house.

Put on some Rizoma Reverse Retro mirrors too (http://www.pjsparts.com) - backed her out of the garage for a photo-op. LOTS still needs to be done - like getting the righ side rear set worked out with a rear brake M/C, exhaust, blah blah blah - etc. Thinkin now I'm going to pull the entire bike apart (something I did not want to do) - get busy on the frame by removing all the excess brackets and mounts - then send it off to the powdercoaters. Guessin I'll go back to a black frame, but a friend recently did one of his Triumphs in silver/gray ... and it looks sharp.

Try as I might, I cant get these POS MAC headers to fit. The #3 primary wont fit properly to allow enough thread exposure. I even had some help from a friend who's more than capable and experienced - he's restored/custom built a few bikes. I ended up stickin the headers that came with it back on for now so I could get it somewhat back together (for now).

Took my first ride on it around the neighborhood this weekend! whoohhoooo!! Open pipes rock - but I need to find a permanent set to replace the crappy ones on there now.

Still have a lot of finishing work to do. New controls, different clip ons, have the brake lines re-done, have the rims powdercoated. It never ends.

It was the header that came on the bike when I bought it. I'm still trying to figure out what I want for an exhaust. Any suggestions would be nice. I like em LOUD!

Id be very interested to hear about (and better - photos of) what you find when you pull the forks apart for powdercoating. Then Ill have to figure out how yours differ from my 73K, and what can be done.

Havent been on here since my last update and really the only thing to add is this; I got tired of walking around the bike as I passed through the garage and decided to do something about it. Made an arrangement with a friend to finish it for me. I just dont have the time. Bike is now completely disassembled and a fresh new parts list for the rebuild is underway. Already have new parts arriving - still need more. Hopefully I'll get a chance to ride it this year.

Picked up some new parts this past week. Met a local guy who reconditions rotors (all kinds of vintage bikes) and then puts his talent to use by cross drilling them. Really nice guy, retired Lockheed mechanic, who races some vintage open wheel cars (with a Busa motor) as a hobby. Would have liked to chatted longer with him, but I had to get back home and ready for work.

The guy sells these on eBay if you're interested in getting some. He'll also do your rotor(s). Like I said, nice guy with some talent for detail. Some things I'd rather pay for than attempt as a DIY - but that's just me.

Got the bike finished. Had a local mechanic sort out the exhaust and the wiring that had been scrambled by a previous owner - and while it was there, had a bunch of pieces and parts powerdercoated. She's ready now.

I gotta ask. What was the donorbike of the brake MC and the clutch perch/lever? I bet you get the stupidest grin on your face when you look at your bike. Nice work!
