'78 CB750F cable routing
« on: August 04, 2005, 06:48:12 AM »
I got my bike running again after working on it all summer (thanks to my brother wrecking it!). Now I'm kind of woundering how to best route my cables, or more specifically, my throttle cables. Right now I have them going from the handle, around the neck, and down the left hand side of the frame under the coil packs to the carbs. Is that the way it's supposed to be? I've been scouring all my pictures I took before the wreck and of other peoples bikes/manuals, but I can't find any info on how to route these.

As usual, any help is greatly appreciated guys.

Routing does not really matter as long as your turning is not affected and the bike does not not change speeds while turning. Normally the cables run along the left side under the tank and above the coils but again, if everything works ok, then it is not an issue as far as I can tell.

I think the stock mounting is between the fork ear and gauge bracket, around the neck and along the left side of tank above the frame rail, (over/under/alongside?) coils and through the triangular shaped frame base to the carbs. Sounds like you have it right. This works with the stock 5" rise bars. If you have aftermarket low bars you'll have to get creative to take up the excess cable length.
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Yep, sounds about right as I have it. Thanks.
