400f handlebar questions
« on: February 15, 2008, 04:50:33 AM »
First off, will 400f bars fit a K series 750 with stock switch hardware using the little locator pins and everything?

Secondly, what are the dimensional differences between 400f Euro and US bars?  Is it in just the rise?  How much rise and pullback do the Euro bars have?

And last, where can said bars be bought?

TIA!!  ;D

Available from DSS in the Uk at 26.00 pounds. I've also seen them on ebay at $99.00 which is way to much.
I think It was only the USA spec 1977 CB400F that had the crappy high bars. so go for the 75/76 bars. These I find are just right for a street bike and should work nice on the 750.

Thanks for the help guys!!  I've got drag bars on right now, not too bad as far as seating position goes, but they abso-freaking-lutely KILL the thumb on my throttle hand.  I'm thinking something with a little less pullback, more rise, and slightly turned-down at the ends would be just right

what you have described are english "M" bars. Common accessory for brit bikes in the 1950-60s. Unfortunatly I have no idea where to get them these days. I do have a cb750K (1973) that came with them on there when I bought it and I can tell you they feel much better than drag bars.

you can try some of the bars that BCS sells, but they won't come predrilled:

I replaced the stock bars of my 1975 CB550F with Euro CB400F bars from DSS, and I'll say that the difference is pretty substantial (better), both in pullback and rise. They're lower, but not clip-on low, just right. Switches swapped out fine.

It looks like BCS has the "M" type bars you were describing Geeto, and some other designs that looked pretty good too, but the price list is E-Mail only and they said its pretty useless unless you have a factory parts book for your British bike :P

I'll have to look around DSS some more, and it seems like alot of Beemers used bars like that too.

BTW, what is a set of really good K2 bars going for on E-Bay these days?  ;D
