maybe everyone knows this... but if you stick your compressed air nozzle next to the grip it will inflate a bit and you can take it off... and if you have a stubborn one you can install it with compressed air as well... ( works like stink... no kidding )

Supposedly Hair spray is the adhesive of choice...

yes
spray it inside the grip, slide onto the bar and leave for a few hours to dry.
Locks a womans hair into a fancy do, locks grips even better, been used for push bikes and motor bikes for many years

We used Aquanet back in the early 80's in my BMX days.

Hairspray works like a lubricant when you push the grips on, and a glue when it dries. I get no twisting of the grips on the bars since I started using it.

I worked in bicycle shops for 15 years - we always used compressed air.
Be careful, tho. You can blow your grips up like a balloon & once they get stretched out, they won't stay put.

Hair spray is OK but if you get a little water in there (like on a rainy day or after washing the bugs off) the grips will come off as fast as they slid on.

Ah I learned this in my local bike shop. Works great, used hair spray but never had any problem with grips falling off when it gets wet.

I've been doing it for years but had a bad experience one time when I guess I used too much and it got under the plastic throttle sleeve and the next day I couldn't move the throttle, that wasn't fun.

Ride in the rain all the time and never had trouble with the water though.

I have had the same blue can of Aqua Net hairspray in my tool box probably since this bike was new (1981)...

Another good one for removal that works like a charm: rubbing alcohol. Pull up the edge and drop some in there, only need maybe a table spoon, and the grip will slide right off the bar. You don't run into the issue of stretching the grip out this way. This is a trick I use from my youth, I used to work on pedal bikes all the time (boy was my mom mad when I tore apart my brand new Huffy

), but upgraded to motorbikes in due course

it's the alcohol content in AquaNet that makes it work for removing grips as well as the sticky stuff in it after the alcohol dries up that makes it good for putting them on.
Plus.... if ya have a lighter handy hairspray makes a #$%*in' flame thrower

I have used straight rubbing alcohol to remove grips as well with good results except when there was a lot of grip glue used to install them, it gets pretty messy.

The way I take off hand grips, I pull out my BOX CUTTER from the tool box and cuttem off!!!!!!!!!!!! ;DLOL LOL LOL

That is what I had to do as my KO & K1 have a number of holes in the bars for the wiring. I tried duct tape to cover the holes, but forget it. Just blows off.

If you use compressed air to get them on, won't it blow the glue or dry out the hairspray too quick?

I know this is old but on my dirt bike I use clear spray paint and always have. Works well. As for getting them on....do it fast.

Carb or brake cleaner. Softens the rubber so pulling the grips off or putting them on is a breeze.
