Quick question...
« on: August 04, 2005, 07:41:22 PM »
...anyone know it there is a difference in the width of the swingarm (end of spacer to end of spacer) for the early SOHC 750's 69-76 and the later models, specifically 78K?  Also any difference in the size of the axle?

Yes there is a difference.

Dust seals are different. I believe the axle/bushing is different too.

I know there was a change just can't remember what exactly it was.

If no one else can remember I'll go look at one of mine.

Early swingarms had seperate side thrusts with cupped steel washers and a grease nipple at each end with a machined "scroll" in the ends of the pivot pin; Later ones had "Top Hat" bushes with a single grease nipple underneath with just a radial groove round the pivot pin. I think COMPLETE assemblies will fit and if you have an engineering bent (not sure how far) you can mix and match as long as you make sure, by modifying bits, that grease can get to the area between bush and pin
