El Gordo! You have to admit Austin has been transformed in the last 10-12 years. It definitely has the yupster influence- it's become one of the top advertising and graphic design centers of the country.   I didn't know they ate grits in TX- lived there some. My Mom was from Commanche.
Have you lived there all you're life? If so, where did the grits come from?
Dude- your 8 layers are showing!

Sorry Terry,
i had to go take my pills...

Seriously,
the K1 will get done orig. - but for now i will get her on the road as-is

Now to the Bobber-
i want it to be 100% honda if possible
so i want to use the orig. frame and get a frame builder to modify it
i want the CB750 frame #
a guy in Brissy has 2x K2 frames that have been chopped and says i can have em so the ball has started rolling
no hardtails for me mate - too old for that #$%*

oh, and of all the things i've lost in the past
i miss my sanity the most...

Uncle Ernie,

I'm actually in Denver now, but it's been less than a year.  Yes, Austin has changed A LOT in the last decade, and that's one of the reasons I left.  I spent my whole life in Texas until two years ago, but I got my taste for grits while in Basic Training at Fort Knox.

OH Moderator! Can you start a new thread for these guys, like "Which Trailer Park were you born in?" or "Is it ok to marry your sister if you live too far from other kin" etc, there's a major thread drift going on here! Cheers, Triple S. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Jeez Terry,
You do like to take the piss mate.

Can we talk about choppers???

How about...
Glory Stomper (HD based i know)
or
Japonicus?
or
The sexy "Bobbers" by Salinas Boys??

Or any number of 750/4 based chops / bobbers
Isn't individuality the key?

Mate, those two bikes are beautiful. I gotta say, they look that good because someone's gone to the trouble of doing it properly! They could have taken the angle grinder to a stock frame I suppose, but I doubt the result would even be close. if you want a result like those two magnificent beasts in your pics, then you'll be a lot more successfull if you put the grinder away and get out the chequebook instead. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Not at all brooksey, I'm sure that you're more than capable, I'm just suggesting that if you want to build a really professional looking bike, (whether it's a chop or a cafe bike) you've gotta start with the right parts, because when you're building mechanical art, compromise sucks.

I'm kicking myself as I think back to 1981 when I had my first K1, I was GIVEN an Amen Savior frame, chrome springer front end and a set of "Sidewinder" pipes, custom fuel and oil tanks etc, and I gave them to another guy because I was just a digger in the army, had no garage to secure them, and wasn't allowed to keep them in my barracks room.

It wasn't for a few more years before I had my own workshop and tools, nowadays I could get the thing together (properly) in a matter of weeks! You enjoy building that bike mate, and I'm sure you'll do a great job! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well here's my first post, I don't care much for the new chopper fade. It keeps pushing up parts prices, it'll will die in a couple years, anybody remember how back before discovery channels chooper craze parts were cheap and you could build a nice bike, with just a little money. Here's my chopper, not a west coast or big dog, just a hillbilly delux

Now thats the way to do it.  Chop the Triumph.   yeah :)

Terry,
this time I was taking the piss.

Pity about the amen saviour frame etc... that sort of thing happens to all of us at some time.
but if you keep everything - well, that's another story.

You're right about mechanical art though - if it looks like #$%* it's almost criminal

I liked the Triumph chop too.
