My latest concoction, PRIMO metalwork
« on: July 26, 2008, 10:41:44 AM »
so i make stuff like this all the time but this piece was so cool that i had to show it off

this is a deck set, the stool took about 15 hours to make the table a little less.
this one won't go up for sale , hopefully my grandkids will have it on their deck

the circles are slugs from a punch press, this is all industrial grade steel (my work doesn't mess around with the little stuff) 1/4" thick and heavy . the tops are hand shaped oak, witch i then burned with the torch (not stain)

Beautiful work......that is quite amazing. You really don't see artisan craftsmanship like this enough these days.

I'm sure that I can speak for your grandkids and say that they are going to love it.

Thanks much for sharing...I love seeing a variety of projects here!

Cheers
JD

Great work there spikey!
Amazing use of "waste" in the press punch slugs, we clean up maybe 15 - 20 kilo`s of them a week, never looked at them as useful parts......
Very creative mate, well done

I love the torched wood, it looks fantastic with the metal legs.  Looks like you could start a business on the side selling those things for a thousand bucks a pop.

Spikey.....

Took me a while to warm up to your bike - but it's clear the world need more creative types like you.

I agree with pills....you could sell those - but that might cut into your bike building time.  ;)
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

thanks for the comments , these pieces won't be copied. this is gonna be my addition to a list of family heirlooms.  witch is why it's so over the top.    and if you count all the time and materials ,not to mention all the gas for the torch.   I would want closer to 2 grand
witch i don't see anyone in there right mind paying  ;D      this is gonna get passed down, and hopefully be around long after i'm not
