Wrong year colours for a '75 750
« on: February 19, 2008, 12:15:24 AM »
Hi, can someone please offer their opinion on this: do you think it will really affect resale value (and by how much) if I paint a k5 750 a k4 colour ie. flake sunrise orange? Bike is all stock, but I like the orange colour better than the blue and red the k5's came out in.

That orange color is quite nice and desirable, especially fresh, unfaded. It may actually increase its value, won't decrease it..

Flake sunrise orange is really the only way to go....

However the stock K5 colour - Flake Apricot Red- is pretty close but who wouldnt want an orange bike!

I think it 'could' hurt resale if/when you go to sell and a really serious particular collector passes on it due to the color change but I agree with the earlier statement that most likely you'll be making it more valuable/desirable because that orange is a great color.

X-2 on this idea. In fact you could have more than 2 colors.

That's what I'm doing. I bought a spare tank and covers and am painting them Candy Antares Red, offered in '76. (My bike is from '73). Fortunately, the tank is from a later model, so the color would be correct for that style tank (petcock on other side, single output) I can always put the other tank back on.

First off is yor tank and covers in good runnable cond with stock paint. If it is get other parts, if not paint away.

Was it not 75, 76 that had the horibble orange peel on the paint?

I love that candy antares red, its on mine right now. Its gonna change soon to what others will consider less desirable(flat black with white pearl tribal pattern), but under the trim i can see the original red color and its slick. ;D
