Um, the bike parts are called 'lugs'... the steel tubes fit into them.

well I've got a month to get the garage to my new place so i threw on some some stuff that would be harder to pack (fenders) and while i was at it the caliper

couldn't get this ridiculously expensive billit plate frame to polish up,way to expencive to replace(i paid 80 for it 4 or 5 years ago when it first came out cause it fit the spikey thing i was doing, now they go for 60) i was gonna paint it but i think i'll keep it like that as a reminder to be more careful

i had alot of great times in here, couple great parties, got laid a few times in here, one of the parties i was so drunk i passed out on the floor (near the drain) and my friends started drawing on my face, and the smell of the the marker made me throw up right on him....

*sigh*  i'm gonna miss it..

............................the house on the other hand iam not going to miss , i might add that went in there the other day , the first time in weeks...... and its flooded again

Triple plating means they, the first deposited copper, then nickel, then chrome.  FYI.

i'm pretty sure that all chrome needs the , copper, then nickel treatment ..... so saying "triple plated" is most likely a marketing trend to make there's sound better, i've herd this statement before and i always thought it was three layers of chrome on top of the other layers.
there marketing trend worked on me  :P

Nah, I think he's right.  "Triple plated chrome" is the copper/nickel/chrome.  Some cheaper places just do chrome, or something like that.  That's why crappy chrome flakes and peels.

BTW, haven't checked out the thread for a few weeks.  Lookin like she used to.  You'll be riding by warm weather again.

The actual plating depth depends on the time in the plating tank for all layers.  If you want a thick chrome deposited layer, leave it in the plating tank so more chrome can be deposited on the final layer.  This usually costs more as the chrome sacrificial electrode depletes faster.  More chrome IS better, provided the prep and prior plating layers have been performed properly.  Even thick chrome layers can peel off if prior steps weren't done properly.

my roommate and were talking about wrenching (he's not realy a gearhead like me), and how over the years i've done things to my bike so many times that i've gotten pretty fast at certain things , laceing a wheel is one of those things,(i've done it wrong and had to start over alot, so the proper way is burned into my brain)
so anyway my roommate just timed me , and i laced this wheel in 14 minutes, from a pile o parts to what you see here (somtimes i impress myself, and have to toot my own horn)

i didnt polish the hub that good last time,so that got redone. the spokes and nipples were polished (might i add that polishing nipples SUCKS,pun intended)
does anyone know what the gold colored coating on stock nipples is, cause it polished right off

Cadmium plate is yellow.  It's a corrosion preventive.

Yes, they will rust without a coating.  How do you feel about waxing...

often.

crap..... i was afraid of that . i didn't really have much of a choice, it was that, by new ones, or use crusty burnt ones.    and we all know the last option is out.  and I'm stretching the funds pretty thin here , so don't want to buy new ones.  i guess wax it is for now (damn) maybe I'll get the stainless spokes next winter if i can afford it

its not trued or torqued all the way, once you've done it like 10+ times ..... and it was hilarious actually, i bet my roommate i could do it in 20. so he had to by the beer   ;D

hey, if you are going to be replacing next year with stainless, why not just polish and then clearcoat over it? I have did this with good results, but not sure how long it will last, it has been 9 months and i am still good with no problem.

The video would be nice to see for someone that hasn't done it(like me).  I believe ya.

Looks really f'ing good.  I'd go with a clear coat on the spokes.  How fast can you unlace it?  Video please???  -Of both unlacing and the relace if you do it again.  It's going to be better than rusty spokes.
