first of all , thank you all for the kind words

In hind site i realize that there is no way in hell i could have done this without the help of this forum, the donating members... be it, parts, information, reinforcement, and even people to go ride with.  thank a zillion

and yes, i was completely obsessed. at least 3 or 4 hours a day, usually more. i can count on one hand how many days i didn't work on the bike.

WOO HOO!!!

Yup, time for a little wire chasing.

That sound must had made you SOoooooooo happy.   ;D
i didn't record the part where me and ryden jumped around screaming and yelling

Hey Spikey, congrads on the rebuild. You  got right in there and made it happen. I had the same problem with mine (oil light) a few months back after front end rebuild. Turned out to be bad connection in the headlite bucket. It may seem like a nightmare with all the wiring crammed in there but I found it pretty quick.........good luck with it.

i just got back from the first ride (outside from around the block with no plates)

OMG that wanted to GO, it was just waiting to spread it's wings. i got so much adrenaline in me right now i can barely type. ;D ;D

it didn't miss a beat , .....UNTIL

of coarse there are going to problems, and this one is pretty funny. when i hit the left turn signal all the lights on the bike flash (dash, gauges, everything) exept for the left signals. i thought nothing of it and just used hand signals and kept going. ::)

i get home , pull in the garage and hit the left signal, and the knob locked in place. the the main fuse popped and the bike died :'( ;)

so i'm pretty certain i need a left handle bar contol (damn it)
...at least the right signals are fine, now i just have to do hand signs for left turns till i fix it :D

Hi Spikey,

Been watching your 'phoenix' with much interest. Have to say that your bike rebuild/disaster/rebuild has been an inspiration. Many would have put it to one side for a long while after the fire before rebuilding it. Some would probably have sold what parts they could and started again with another machine.

The best bit for me was the wee fella doing a bit of spannering. Lots of Dads wouldn't let their kids near their newly finished machine with anything that could dent/scratch their pristine bike but then you've worked out whats really important in life and its not material.

As for what he builds, I'm sure it will be great but don't be in such a hurry to see him build it cos they don't stay young for long, just enjoy the journey.  ;)

I agree with that to a point.........it depends where you live.....if you live in the boonies....who cares? If you live in a metropolis kind of zone......it might save your life.
BUT.........besides the turn sig. thing..........How does it run????

i rode 13 miles and it was awesome , seemed like it might be a little rich in the quarter throttle area, but half throttle and on it was pulling out from under me  ;D

most don't realize that when i finished the seat/tank/bars mods , there was still snow on the ground, so i never got to ride it. its alot more comfortable then i thought it would be. .. i can ride upright or tucked in. i love it

to be honest.  my old man wasn't around much, and when he was, you'd wish he wasn't if you know what i mean. his father was the same way..i'm tryin' to break that cycle

so back to the bike,
i opened up the head light bucket to try and find where this latest short circut is, basically just turning on the left signal and unplugging stuff till the fuse stops blowing, several fuses later..   i have no more front marker lights, just signals.
not sure why the marker lights were doing that but it works now so i stopped mucking with it

I had the same issue.  I don't have marker lights either but I'm not blowing fuses so I think it's and acceptable trade off.
