Anyone else watching the Lunar Eclipse?
« on: February 20, 2008, 06:50:06 PM »
It's 8:45 central time and the eclipse is almost full now. Once it is, it should be a nice red color. Also, it will be positioned between the planet Saturn below it and the star Regulus above. Just FYI.
Later!
There are old bikers and there are bold bikers but there are very few old, bold bikers.

Hey my wife really likes your avatar ;)

The eclipse is awesome from my vantage point here in Maine.  Cool crisp night with no clouds.

Awesome!

Brent, Matt, we have had crystal clear Sky's at night for the last 2 weeks, because tonight (3am) we had something to watch it's cloudy.  >:( >:( >:(  Glad I'm a night worker and didn't have to wait up not to see it. ;D ;D ;D

We got clouds.  >:(

One of the elementary schools here even planned a telescope party to get the kids interested.  I'm sorry they're missing out.

Impressive viewing out here in the middle o' Oregon. Some light clouds started drifting by after totality, making for an interesting effect. 8)

I had planned to watch the event, but when the moon just was visible at the horizon to the East it was perfectly clear. Then when the time was near, a layer of heavy scud formed that made the whole event a bust! Damn! Now I will have to wait until 2010!

That was quite a sight, and some nice pics posted here. Luckily I was able to see it from inside my house but I did go outside and watch for awhile after loading my boiler up with wood . How were you guys able to take such good pics?

Aaron, I had hoped someone with a camera/telescope would post a pic that showed the detail and incredible luminousness of that eclipse. My poor replication is from the little Pentax Optio M20 set at max telephoto and resolution and on a tripod at -20C.

Uh Oh... I knew I'd catch crap for that! No, I didn't have my camera with me... in the process, I found out that some ski friends are amature astronomers... they showed me all kinds of stuff.. I have a big telescope and am just learning how to use it...
Skiing is why I haven't been on here in months.. I'm on the Ski Patrol at the local ski area, and have been teaching first aid and skiing constantly... Sunday, I test on taking people down the hill on a tobaggon... My poor bike has been neglected... took the battery out, and there she sits! I'm starting to get itchy to ride though...
