Specials, hybrids etc.
« on: February 21, 2008, 02:34:19 am »
I am really interested in specials, you know, where someone puts the engine from one bike into the frame of another, etc.  Does anyone have any unusual links to strange homemade bikes?

For example, someone here has put a honda engine into a bsa frame:

Not a great example but you get the idea, the odder the better.

Maybe someone here has created an unusual bike?

All info greatfully recieved.

If I can find pics, i'll post the ones when i had a 25cc motor hooked up to my custom frame(built by me).

Would get 160+mpg, and with me and the motor it would do about 40mph.
Motor alone about 25+, but it took BLOCKS to get to top speed.

How about a Harley engine in a Norton frame?  The closer you look, the more cool one-off parts you see.  The owner made the stainless exhaust from a lot of short pieces.  The engine mounts are a work of art.  The brakes are Yamaha.  And the best part is this bike gets ridden; a lot!!!

Not exactly what this is about, but ya gotta admit that it's a different twist though. I found this picture a few years ago and there was supposed to be a follow up with improvements made. Never saw it though and can't find out what happened to it. As it is, I think it's a waste of a good CB500K motor. If it was something more than a rider, I would have a different feeling about it.

Tritons (Triumph engine, Norton chassis) are the big ones on this side of the pond obviously ;D

But being from a later generation I've always had a soft spot for YammaGammas - Suzuki RG frames with Yamaha YPVS motors in them 8)

Here's a how to link:

I put an electric fork lift motor in a
1983 Honda XL600 frame--some frame mods.
Then put the XL600 motor in a Honda CB360 frame.
Here's the electric.         ---        reload/refresh to see video again.
