Yep, full story on the Dodge Challenger and a surprising story about AMC's return with concept drawings of the Javelin (& a convertible model), the Matador, the Ambassador, the Gremlin, the Pacer, the AMX Coupe AND an AMX/4 (now some of you might remember back when the Mercury Pantera was introduced and AMC had a prototype AMX/3 w/a european designed car sporting a mid-engine. Well, the /3 car is what started this return. When I can, if someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll try to get and post some pictures.

                                   Later on, Bill :) ;)

New dodge I couldnt care less about. AMC however, that might be a different story. I guess it depends on their designs. Notice I said NEW dodge.

I hear what you are saying eldar. That's the way I was about the Charger. I'm hoping (and it looks like) they learned their lesson on the Charger and make the Challenger like it Should be! :)

If I can come up with some of the AMC concept drawings on line some where, I'll post them. In the Hot Rod magazine, they have a similar look to the original with some updating and have some nice looks to them and the AMX Coupe has a 69'ish look to it.

Well, I did not find anything on line about the return of AMC because THERE IS NO RETURN PLANNED. :-\ IT WAS A HOAX PUT OUT BY HOT ROD MAGAZINE AND ONE OF THEIR STAFF- STEVE STANFORD! I hadn't read the entire article until I found something in a forum about the last part of the article. It was a GIMMICK, to boost sales I suppose. I can't even remember when I last bought a Hot Rod magazine, but I bought this one (@ $5.99) because of the Challenger & AMC articles mainly. What a load of crap, it was supposed to have been a multimillionaire who wanted to buy an AMX/3, couldn't find one and decided to build one. Then he supposedly realized that, if he could build several, he might be able to recoup some of his investment and it was supposed to basically sort of snowballed from there.  ::) At the end of the article, it says:
"So do you have your checkbook out ready to put
down a deposit on a new AMC car? If so, put it
away,'cause HOT ROD and Steve Stanford have been
              jacking with you- April Fools!"

::) I didn't notice, or even think about checking the issue month and it is APRIL'S issue! ::) It WAS a letdown for me, as I have always liked the early (particularly the 69') AMXs. ;) Sorry about the false alarm there. Next time, I'll check it out before I spread the news (probably not though :D)

Yeah, I hear ya. Used to have several choices and the Hemi was the ultimate. Now, it seems to be nearly commonplace in a lot of the models. Not cool.

That's a pet peeve of mine.  The April issue should come out in April or perhaps late March.  For goodness sake, it's still February.  Just like the 2009 cars shouldn't come out in the first months of 2008.  :P

It's even more ridiculous to put an April Fools Day joke in an issue of a magazine sold in February.

Yeah, that kinda messes with my mind also. Magazines did used to come out just before time. It didn't even dawn on me about the issue being April's. ::), until I read the last part of the article. There was a time when the next year's cars didn't come out until about September of the year before. In fact, they used to be pretty strict about that, at one time. I mean, you did not hear or see anything about the new models until a certain DAY in Sept of the year before that particular model (Like; 2008 models were first shown on Sept ??, 2007).

I have the original Hemi. It's a Fiat.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

AND WHAT  about the Ford Hemi?

Ford

Ardun heads for the Ford Flathead were perhaps the first use of a hemispherical head on a readily available American V8.[6] First offered in 1947 as an aftermarket product, these heads converted the Ford Flathead to overhead valves operating in a hemispherical chamber.

Yeah, most people, even  some Chevy fans, think 265, 283, 327 & 350 as being the most notable small blocks! ;)

Hey Rocking-M, when was the Fiat Hemi introduced?  Chrysler introduced the 331 Hemi in 1951. The Ford 427 SOHC (nicknamed the SOCK motor), was introduced to compete in NASCAR after Chrysler put out the 426 Hemi in mid 64' for racing (and 65' in mass production to pass the NASCAR rules. The Arduns weren't factory installed by Ford as an engine option.

Being as I like the Big Block Mopar engines, just give me a 69' 440 6pk powered car and I'd be happy. ;D

Hey Dave. Sorry to take so long to reply, but you are right. I'd love to get hold of one of those and put it through the paces (NOT in Little Rock though, I'd probably get the same cop, knowing MY luck! ::) ) I'd like to see a 5 or 6sp trans behind it though. ;D
