Top Shock Mount
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:00:20 AM »
Okay, I have mentioned before how bad the previous owner was to this bike. I recently purchased some cb1100F shocks and have them in place. However, I need to buy the nuts that mount them on (the acorn nuts). the PO just had some ugly regular type nuts on there. However, I think the length of the threads will mean I will have to stack a bunch of washers together to get the shock to stay put. What have other riders used to fill the void. Or, is the acorn nut that goes there really deep so as to get snug. However, I believe that the shocks and a trim piece around the seat went there and thats why it is so long. Thanks in advance.

Yes, Seat trim (Grab Rail) is used to go behind the shocks. You'll need a couple of washers if you want to keep the acorn nut.

Make sure the grab rail goes on the outside of the shocks (I have one if you need one).  The post is thicker on the inside and that's where the shocks should be.

No. Not shortening shocks. I am not using the grab bar that goes around and was wondering what others had done. I decided to cut down the length of the bolt so I did not need to stack washers. Thanks.
