cb400f master cylinder and fork brace
« on: February 26, 2008, 05:22:02 PM »
Hey guys I'm looking for a modern upgrade that will work with my cb400f. I think the piston is 10mm. I need something that takes up less space on my bars.

Also anyone know of a fork brace for a stock cb400f??

Thanks!

Mike's XS has an assortment of master cylinders.  I have the "mini" version that's sized for a single disk.  I did run a modern CBR master cylinder for a while.  The bore was too big for the single caliper, so it took very little lever motion to fully engage the brakes - it was more of an on/off type action.  I got used to it, but I like the feel of the smaller one on there now.

The fork brace I used pops up a lot on ebay.  Just find something with the right diameter and spacing.  The problem with the 400's are the fork lowers sit below the tire, so most of the braces you see won't work without some tweaking.  I made some 3/4" spacers to raise the cross piece up out of the way.

Cool thanks so much for the info. I saw the post you did awhile back where you modified the brace. I'm thinking of actually milling one out at my school.

Thanks!
