Geezus, Sam. Your little 175 just kicked the snot out of my 750. Are ya using glue on that rear tire to keep at least the illusion of traction off the start?Angry, ANGRY little bee ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

And "fully faired" about describes it for Chris' new look. Never seen anything like it. Looks like it should be out on the Salt Flats taking a stab at the sound barrier. I like how the vid shows Chris becoming a small dot in the distance as he revs through 3rd gear. That other bike was making so much of an audible fuss it was kind of hard to tell though. Looks like like the real strong point of his set-up though I was surprised a bit at the jump he got off the start even with that high gearing :) :) :)

Upperlake, thanks for helping Sam out with getting us this vid. Chris and Sam are a great opening act but it looks like the film cut just as the REAL show was about to begin ;) ;) ;) ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D

Hi Sean, glad you liked it.  In the first run, I am up against my engine builder on another RS, even though I bogged a little it soon showed him a clean pair of heels. ;D ;D ;D ;D

My second run was against a 250 Ducati with a similar ending although it didn't bog as bad.

My last run, not filmed was my fastest at 13.4 seconds.

The footage of Chris is against my motor builder again, this time on a GSXR400 Suzuki, yes it was noisy but didn't get a smell in against the CR. ::)

Thanks BS, glad you liked it, I can promise you........it WILL get faster and I will eventually figure out how to launch the little bugger on the numerous surfaces we have to race on plus the gearing changes for the different distances I have to contend with. ;)

Though far off in the distance, my aging eyes thought they caught the gap exploding in size when Chris hit 3rd. Big grin factor;D ;D ;D

Hi Sean, glad you liked it.  In the first run, I am up against my engine builder on another RS, even though I bogged a little it soon showed him a clean pair of heels. ;D ;D ;D ;D

So this guy is essentially your sparring partner? Pay him a fair wage and you get to slap the tar out of him :D :D

Most bike drag vids I have seen are shot from the starting line vantage. Do they not allow anyone near the track for shots near the finish? Makes sense from a safety standpoint. Would still like to get a telescopic lens to shoot from a safe distance and place remote audio pick-up near the track. Of course I'll bring all the necessary equipment and work for free when I come visit ::) ;D

Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Filming from other vantage points wasn't an issue Sean. The problem was that we were pitted on the track behind the start line.
We had got set up in the paddock when the track owner came over and told us to shift our arses.
We have rollers under the van to fire the bikes up, he told us we couldn't do it in the paddock in case one of the bikes jumped forward off the rollers and ran over someone. It had happend in the UK once and he didn't want suing by a third party. (you lot have a lot to answer for ::) ::) ::) ::) )
He told us the only place we could use them was behind the start line, so we had our own little paddock where we could see all the action. :D :D :D (thanks for the suing culture :D :D :D :D)
Our guy with the camera had to stay close to the van in case anyone else needed to use the rollers as several bikes were needing to use this start procedure and there wasn't room for anymore vehicles behind the start line, they all had to use ours.
If you want to come over and do some filming, be my guest, It's free to stay in Hotel Sam Green Racing. ;)
Then again Sean, you might not need to come to the UK to film me, watch this space ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I would assume that most of you will have heard about the horse race, The Grand National. It's held each year on the very demanding Aintree race coarse in Liverpool.
As well as the Horse race track there is also a full blow motor racing circuit. Back in the 50s, the British Grand Prix was held there but it has not been used for over 50 years as a full circuit.
The reason for this is a public road runs right through the track, basically cutting it in half. The only time the road is closed to traffic is for the Grand National horse race.
The section of GP track away from the grandstand has continued to be used for club racing by both cars and bikes.
Until last year, the section in front of the grandstand had remained unused until the Mersey Motorcycle club and the Vintage Motorcycle Club joined forces and staged the inaugural Aintree Motorcycle Sprint.
Chris contested that first event on the big CR and came away with the first place trophy in the Unlimited Classic Class beating one of the countries top runners in that class.
Sunday will see the second running of the event and as well as Chris campaigning the Big CR, I'll be getting some extra practice over the standing quarter mile on the little RS175.
For some reason best known to themselves, the organisers left a gap between the lower class finishing at 125 and the next class up open to machines of 175 to 400cc.
When I had a word with the Secretary of the meeting, I told him that my bike had a capacity of just 134cc. He told me that they would accept my entry into the larger class.
It would seem that I will have to give away 266cc to some of the other runners, that's allmost twice what I have in the first place ;D
It's just a bit of fun and the best bit is, it's on my doorstep, It's my local track. Wish us well guys. ;)

It's not like me to not keep you up dated on my exploits but I have only just found the results from Sundays fiasco. ;D ;D ;D
Also just to disspell the thought that any of you might have that I like my own voice ::) and only tell you of all the wonderfull things that I have achieved, well here's the balls up report from Sunday despite the fact that the bike was really flying.

I only managed to get three runs in, 2 practice and one in competition. My fastest practice run resulted in a time of 13.9 seconds.
I was competing against 2 400s, a GSXR and a VFR, a racing 350 Yamaha billed as a YR5 and 3 NSR 250 Hondas.
Had everything been perfect and the bike had run the times it did at York a few weeks back, I would have finished in 5th place instead of dead last. :( :( :(

I did say the bike was flying, so what went wrong ?

On my first practice run the bike gassed up off the line as it did on all my runs, and didn't clear for about 50 foot, when it did clear I was covering ground real fast.
At about 350 yards and pulling hard in 5th gear I became air borne,....no....not the front wheel, the whole bloody bike became air borne after hitting a bump on the track. I shut the thing down early and still had a job to stop as the braking area was just as bumpy as the end of the track and when the wheels are not in contact with the tracks surface, braking becomes much harder.
I recorded a 14 something and wondered what state my under pants might be in. ;D ;D ;D ;D
On my second run, I somehow managed to miss the big one but it was still a little hairy of a ride and I recorded 13.9.
During the lunch break, I was talking with some of the riders who all thought the track was bad. One or two of them said the left hand side of the track was much less bumpy so I thought I'd give it a try.
I kept to the left but still managed to find a bump big enough to send me flying again but this time I got a bit crossed up on landing.
With that I removed my leathers and became a spectator for the rest of the day.

Being used to riding on drag strips and well maintained air fields where the ultra lightweight bike with no rear suspension has no problems was a million miles away from the old GP track at Aintree that has more patches in it's surface than a patchwork quilt. :D

Just goes to show, it doesn't matter how brilliant I am, I can still encounter problems ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sam. ;)

I tried to copy and paste the results but it didn't work, you can find them in this link that I had to type in.

Mebbe your bike needs one of those giant, oversized spoilers.

Good on ya for handling a pucker moment. Sam.

Not sure about a spoiler BS, at the last outing it needed an oversized umbrella.
Mike Rieck made the trip across the Atlantic to see the CR and RS being put through their paces only to be greeted by a torential downpour that lasted all day. to say it was a wash out would be an understatment. The bikes never turned a wheel all day.
The rest of the week was sunshine and showers so Mikes visit wasn't all bad.
I took him to see one of the countries top fuel bikes from the sixties that will be given an outing this coming weekend at york raceway.
We also took the RS to have the nitrous oxide fitted and hope to have it back in time for testing at the same meeting at york on Sunday.

Nice write up Sam. Glad to hear your bike is doing so well. It's a shame they
try to run drags on such a rough surface. Bring it on over to North Carolina and run
it at I promise to pit for you and help find a place for you to sleep.  ;)

I'm working on it Rocky, I'm waiting on my passport before I can proceed.
Mark has offered me a ride on his F3 and I've contacted the strips owner Mike for more info (US rules ect).
I'm hoping to take in another meeting somewhere roundabouts on a HD that I was offered from a guy in TN a few months back.
Would like to end up at Valdosta for the world finals in November. Hope I can work it all out.

OK Sam.  I was prepared to give you the full MotoGP treatment...factory support...Bridgestone technicians...umbrella girls - the works.

I just put new tires, fork seals and bearings on my ratty FZR1000 and am thinking about blowing out the cobwebs at something like this.
